I change my instrument cluster few weeks a go and the airbag light come on , i didnt give it attention as it happend often when i remove the cluster and i clear it with vag com and it goes , today i wanted to clear it , and the surprise it doesnt go and the fault code exist again ( 01025 - Trigger For on board diagnostic Lamp ; malfunction 31;00 - open or short to ground.
hmm , do u think i should remove the clutster and clean all the plugs and fit it back? could it be some plug has corrission cos the instrument which i bought was out from a crashed car since 1999.
i checked if all plugs is ok yes all is fited , just this fault code doesnt go by any way
Well the fault code means that the airbag controller thinks it is unable to light the airbag warning lamp in the cluster. So either the lamp is faulty (may be lighting up OK visually but the controller may have some tight tolerance for electrical current thru it), the airbag controller is faulty or the wiring between them.
If I understand correctly, you have swapped the clusters over - are you certain the variant you have is identical to original item and fully working ?
Maybe a bulb of the incorrect power rating is being used in the airbag indicator slot - that could throw the fault if the controller thinks the current usage is wrong. I would try some different bulbs and try again to clear the fault code... If the lamp is getting lit then connectivity must be OK. I doubt very much that the airbag controller is at fault - but it is technically possible.
Only other thing to check is earth connections in case you dislodged something.
I will follow your instructions , i will set back my old cluster and clear the fault codes and if it works , then i will inspect the new cluster , change it bulb and see if there is something not connecting well....
all i know is the airbag light is on till i turn of the car not as before when i have some fault the airbag light keep on for a mint or a bit more then it turn off..
i will remove the speedo soon from the car and recheck the parts number cos the one i had in my car is 8D0 919 033 F , and the other one end with D as far as i remember so i will check them.
last update i find something , one document from audi showes the instrument pins , but what i found on the oposide side the plug is missing some wires
for exemple , PIN 9 AIRBAG DIRECT , and PIN12 AIRBAG INVERTED , in the plug in my car pin 9 exist but pin 12 is empty , what could be? could audi relocated the wires ? the documents data cover cars untill 1997 which had the blue plug as the range of my car and before it and after.
where can i find wires shematic to guide me which colors have the airbag lights to relocate them?
Maybe the new cluster is from a pre-airbag car - that would explain it. What year and engine is this car originally - I can dig up schematic info from that.
my car is 1996 v6 AAH , and the cluster come from 1997 v6 ACK 2.8 30V , and both cluster have identical part number but if you look at the bord of it u see the newer one have some modifications , could u find me the info? i bet theire is a wire is relocated cos i took the cluster of and turn on the car and i get back same fault code so its the ecu doesnt see this cluster.
by the way what is the job of the pin 12 airbag inverted its the one that doesnt exist in my harness.
ThatGUY : welcome to the club , mine doesnt go by any way even when i drive the car for hours it keep shinning not as if there is normal fault that it light for 2 minutes and goes off , what can i do now i will search for another instrument to test it and the closet place to find a speedo that fit my car is 300 km away from me grrrr and there is all ice and snow.
