Well, the trusty old S2 endured the latest trip, from Eastern Romania to Belgium (via a small detour in Germany)
just over 2,400 Km in actually a bit less than a day and a half......
No mechanical problems, and fully loaded, back seats boot and roof box filled to overflowing...
Likes to drink a bit of fuel mind, but very pleased with how the old girl handles it. No oil consumed and all temps and everything present and correct....
Funniest story, on pulling in to a petrol station shortly after crossing the border into Austria, the attendant raced over and asked in excellent English if my car was original S2, or a badged-up standard coupe.... cheeky monkey I thought, but he explained he sees lots of lookalikes, and is trying to find one to buy. He asked if I would mind popping the bonnet to look at the engine, I was happy to, but had to make excuses for lots of little foil packages dotted over and around the engine, these were apple pies and banana fritters, which I was heating up to eat nice and warm..... not at all embarrassing.....!!!
Nice guy anyway, enthusiast, we left on a handshake just as a new RS4 pulled in, still think mine looked ok next to it......
