Had a car reverse into my front bumper back in May and now finally got them to take my car in to the body shop to quote for the repair which came to £1200...bloody joke! The insurance company then informed me that they only valued the car at £800!!! I could either take a cheque for £600 or they would write the car off! Some people just dont understand the value of an s-car

Ask them to justify a value of £800! Ask them where you could buy a replacement S2 for that kind off money. The money supplied after a write-off as far as I understand is ment to allow you to buy a suitable replacement. £800 wouldnt buy you that car, its a joke I would argue with them. its an s4, think I'll take the money and try and source a reasonably priced bumper. Think I'll shop about for better insurance provider next time its due, maybe a classic car insurance would be better with an agreed valuation.

Spot on advice.
Argue with them and show them other cars similar to yours.
What you have to remember is Ins companies ALWAYS start with a **** take offer in the hope that you will roll over and accept it.
It is YOUR car and YOUR insurance.
Good luck.
Cheers,
Steve.

i had similar problems when i had a bump and i thought they had under valued my car. what they told me to do when i disputed the settlement was to give them as much evidance to prove to them that it is worth more. so you need to get on auto trader or piston heads and find cars for sale as close to yours as you can. list optional extras if any which should also make a difference. if they don't up the value then you have tryed but then they might you never know but you have to make a stand for what you belive the car is worth.
never set your expectations to high that way you are never disapointed
