          Jesh...

Did they get you on video?

Go to court and explain to the judge the car is 4wd and will appear to accelerate quicker than most becuase of the superior traction, obviousy the plods have had little experience of a proper car?

Or they just didn't like you out accelerating them and were pissy about it, more likely.

Last bit is most relevant, write the letter asking for the exact offence?

so there is something my local coppers can do about the army of teenage chavs riding scooters up and down the road outside my house for 5 hours a night
i'll suggest that next time they claim there is nothing they can do (lazy f***ers)

how do they define "too quickly" ?
                  what did you do?

appears to be a big grey area from that info Carl posted

Over took them on the inside on a roundabout at reasonable speed, drove down a small section of duel carridgeway turned off and then promptly turned round to come back down the duel carridgeway which is when they said I had all four wheels spinning then pulled over at the next junction.

If I'm caught doing it any time between that date and a years time in whatever I drive (3 wheeler, moped, callam's v3) I will have the car conviscated and be walking home.

so essentially they can just report what they like and you have no comeback?

Yeah pretty much unless there are witnesses on your side who are willing to fight for you (which are few and far between now adays.)

I went on a pistonheads run at the weekend to Black Bushe airport. After breakfast everyone piled outside to take a look at all the cars only to see a policeman pull in on his bike.

I was at the petrol station at the time but apparently he seemed friendly enough and asked them to make some noise when they left. I guess it goes to show that they arean't all ********* on power trips.

Oh and whilst on the subject of that Pistonhead hoon, I was driving back from the petrol station towards Black Bushe when I spied a police bike on my tail. This was after I gave the car abit of welly around the roundabout but still remained under the speed limit when I hit the straight. He flashed his blue lights at me and then hammered it past me, slowed down again and then gave me the thumbs up.

SOME police bikers are quite cool - even over here - they carry a certain amount of enjoyment for progressive driving shall we say, but they won't take any nonsense.

That Section 59 stuff sounds crazy - how do they define 'excessive acceleration' then ? With what measurement device ? And to what regulations ? I am not aware of any law that says you have to accelerate within certain limits...

Sure there are speed limits and one has to be seen to be driving safely, smoothly and responsibly of course, but that doesn't mean that 'excessive acceleration' is necessary a bad thing.

Must admit that roundabouts are dangerous on the S2 when traversing them on the limits of traction that 2WD cars simply cannot - especially on the wet... Most folk completely misjudge the speed you are carrying. I've learnt my lesson on this and I'm sure others have had near misses too.
