The first one looks like a 2.8, the second looks like the real deal.

Why's that first one needed a new gearbox, if it's only done 116k MOTORWAY miles .. some people write such rubbish

There have been quite a few in the trader around that mark recently, there was a negaro blue avant that sold last week (i rang up about it actually) in leicester it went for £5500 and it only had 84 on the clock with full ASH

The only diesel engine I would go for at the moment would be either the 535d or the 335d coupe but they are a little out of my price bracket! (having been loaned these, I can tell you they are rapid!)

I would definatly take the S4 over an A4 diesel though.

can't see teh s4 being any more expensive to run but that's just a personal guess. I do have a couple of mates that bought 2.5tdi quattros. one has an s reg and one a 53 or 04 and both don't get great mpg considering they're diesels.
At the end of the day an S car is an S car.. hard to beat.

Just make sure the front supension and front subframe is tight, otherwise you're in for a nasty piece of bush-changing .
