This exact same thing happened to me Dan but not quite as serious. The quote that I received included a bumper and make the car a write-off. Thankfully I had an agreed value policy. Still talking ot insurance company 2 months after it happened.

Anyway, sorry to see that you got bumped, hope you get it sorted.

they have said i can take it anywhere but i will have 2 pay the excess which i cant do

Get a quote for paying in cash by youself, see if it's less than the excess from your insurer.

The high excess vs. lower annual premium gamble is always a, um, gamble.
