    VOSA / Police Roadside inspection?

When I left work yesterday, the closer i got to home i noticed loads of police bikes all riding about, must have seen 10 in the space of 5 minutes, then i pulled into my gym carpark and found that was half full with police cars, bikes and 2 VOSA Vehicle Inspection Vans. There must have been 20 bikes, 10 patrol cars.

I mentioned it to a guy at work who lives the other side of Birmingham who said he'd spotted a similar "infestation" on his drive home as well. So the question is:
    What are they up to?

They are on a major sting at the moment for road tax.... They ahve been doing it in leicester too.

THey seem to have a few plain clothes police just standing by the side of the road talking and when you go past they radio down to the waiting police cars and vosa vehicles to do a check on the car and by the time you get to them (about a mile) they have details ont he car insurance etc and pull you over if anything is amis. I.E. Upgrades on standard insurance. Got talking to one last week about it.

see as someone who pays their road tax and insures their car properly I for one am glad they are hitting the scum that can't be bothered to do either. This type of policing should be applauded to be honest. I'd far rather see them trying to get these people off the road....who knows we might one day see the insurance costs fall

I saw 3 trucks on the M3 the other day towing away cars with no tax (stickered up as such)

I saw this happening up in Harbourne two weeks ago, wondered what it was all about.

this is true, i'm just shocked at the number of police they seem to be willing to throw at the problem. Noone seems to care about the gang of teeneage chavs that hang about at the bottom of my road smashing bus-shelters or driving their chicken chasers on the pavement

I got pulled the other week in Cheltenham for no seat belt, trickled round corner on one way circuit and there were tons of them doing spot checks. I got offered ticket or the chance to have a go on a seat belt sleigh. No competition, i'd have had a go on the sleigh anyway!

Was expecting something from Top Gun but was an old wind up machine with a skanky old coach seat welded to it. Was released down and BANG hit the bottom (supposed to simulate a slow speed crash).

I then had a few minutes lecture on "why" we should wear seatbelts and was handed back my keys / phone etc (as no sharp objects allowed in pockets). As i was handed them back she pulled a lighter out as well, i them lectured her on how many people die of lung cancer each year. Needless to say, she didn't see the funny side but the fat builder that was about to have a go certainly did..

Yeah agree with david on this, definetly a worthwhile task to get the people that dont have roadworthy vehicles

VOSA do this all the time in brum, I have a mate who works for VOSA and it's an easy way to get figures up for the year.

It's why I don't want to run without a decat pipe as they are becoming more common place in Brum.
