the head gasket was not the right one, as it has sealed 3 engine cooling water ducts, around 2 cylinders. a piston was cracked.

Excellent stuff!!! That's why accountants are only allowed to play with calculators!!One of my mates friends parents bought a brand new S8 with LPG installed. With only a few hundred miles on the clock a safety relay which operated a solenoid valve went faulty and left them stranded at a garage in the stix.
The dad being a highly trained accountant decided he could fix it, he shorted the wires together and got the car going again. Then instead of fixing the fault left it as it was. The next morning his wife went to the car which had been bleeding gas into the engine all night, turned on the ignition and tried to fire it up----I suppose you could say she succeeded. The manifolds blew off and the head bolts failed launching the head into the bonnet, the gas in the exhaust blew that up into pieces.
Reminds me of a guy who bought a brand new Mazda quite a few years ago when LPG was first on the scene and the government were paying a % of the installation cost.
He took his few day old car to this "garage" which "specialised" in LPG conv.
When the car went for it's first service my mate, the mechanic noticed that to route the gas pipework they had chiseled thru the chassis members in a total of 4 places!!!!
Of course said garage had taken the cash and run, Mazda warranty was void and he was a bit pissed off to say the least-
I remember seeing pics of the car, it looked like they had picked the biggest chisel out of the toolbox and belted it through the rail with a 12 lb sledge- ***** like this give all mechanics a bad name.Comment
