    788hp on 1.8bar

    Hi everybody!

I have a guy in our Italian Forum that declares that amount of power 788bhp on an S2 3B with a top pressure of 1.8 bar .

    Question for the gurus:

Is it in any way phisically possible?

This fella states that is running a Garret gt40 and same kind of refrigerating circuit for the head of the motor.
Plus a lot of aerodinamics and tuning up things inside and outside

To me it sounds like an egg because the guy started up with a question about the location of the reservoir for the windscreen whashers
Assuming it teared the car apart (suspensions big brakes with six pots etc etc) for that kind of project.... he then should know where the bloody thing his..... or not?

He also found out that the head of the 3B it's far more resistent then the ADU one....
When as far as i know they're the same thing.....

Thanks in advance for the replies

    Ciao Stefano

Hey guys, just thought I'd update the forum about my 20v project since I'm getting a lot of q's about it. Here is the parts list: -7A, 2.3 block bored to 83mm -.070 Copper head gasket, block 0-ringed with reciever groove in cylinder head (now custom MLS/Copper 034 gasket) -034EFI 144mm rods...

javad from 034 motorsport hit 722whp on 2.2bar so its not completely unfeasible, but highly unlikely

I`ll just point out that a gt40r would make make a quite a lot more power running the same or less boost than the gt35r.

Obviously we would need to know the the exact specs of the engine, but is is possible

gt 40r gives max 700hp i think...... but this one http://www.turbobygarrett.com/turbob..._751470-22.htm gives 800 max :mischeif:

Well thats gonna be a BIG turbo if it can hit 788bhp at 1.8bar on 2226cc IMO... And of course the obligitary internal upgrades and monster intercooler and exhaust will be needed along the way. Unless we are talking about some non-linear stuff like nitrous injection then I am very skeptical. What RPM are we talking about here ?

On a 2.5l stroker with something bigger than a GT40 and the ability to rev like crazy running exotic fuel I'd say its achievable, but not easily.

The fella states 9000 revs for 788 bhp at 1.8 bar
And over (means something more i think) then 850 bhp at 2.2 bar

Honestly the Porsche 993 gearbox it's something weird to me

The power....... well i don't know but i'm VERY skeptical aswell Paul.

How can somebody with the tecnichal knowledge to achieve that project tell that the heads of an ADU and 3B are different.....
Meaning that the ADU it's weaker then the 3B one after a "digital scanning" (exact words)

                        its doable

cncgheads made 504hp at 1 bar on a supertourer 2l16v so its possible. big port head, cams and high rpm.

788 is 459lbsft so easily possible. hp is not a real figure remember.

Hmm.. hp is a very real figure, product of force (torque) and velocity (rpm). Peak hp is the only figure that can give us any real information about the potential of the motor. Peak torque can be very deceiving, and tells us basically nothing:
A slightly portly bloke with a 3ft breaker bar can make 1000lb-ft at 6rpm. Torque fanatics would expect that engine to tear stuff up, but in reality, the car would barely move, as work done (horsepower) is very low (barely 1hp).
Making plenty of torque at low rpm can be done with hand tools. Making 459lbs at 1 rpm takes a 153lb guy with a 3ft breaker bar. Making 459lbs at 9016rpm is a whole lot trickier

Nice post Espen on the reality of torque v bhp

Now if this can rev to 9000rpm then its into potentially big power - IFF the chosen turbo is able to run efficiently and the engine can consume approx 80lbs of air per min with temperature under control, good fuelling and no knock.

My gut feel tells me that only the most supreme turbo would be able to generate ~800bhp at the top end and anything useful in terms of tractable torque in the low-mid range.
