Family Album Version

Hello gentlemen,

I have just downloaded the 'Family Album' version 6.31 program and can´t get it to work. I keep receiving the harldlock 38 error message, though I have already run the hardlock.exe program. Don´t know what to do. I´m using Windows Vista, maybe it is something related to that? Did anybody have a similar problem and could help? Apreciate any help!

Dump 6.31. Find 7. (Purge all (and I mean ALL) 6.31 files first)

6.31 is OK actually, but I suspect Vista is the problem - wouldn't be the 1st time Mr Gates

Check for a patch folder on the cd, you should have a few files there to copy into your install folder that will get rid of the hardlock. v7 is worth getting for the new interface, and it dosent matter which OS your running.

Tryed to copy the files from the Patch directory already, but it seems to do no good! I´ll try getting 7 then! Anyway, thanks for your help

Vista is a right pita to install this on if it wants to be, i've tried it a couple of times for people but in the end most change back to xp as its better supported etc.

ive also found this cant load my fa on vista is there any other patches available cant load it on my old ibm thinkpad because of the screen resolution

nilo - do you actually get it to install as iirc me/james could not get it to install on his at all?

If you can get it installed, try right click on the program and see if you can run it in a different compatibility mode as that might do it.

To be honest, vista only comes on the newest of new machines (from what i've seen) and imo change it for xp pro (not home as pro has better security and better video codecs) and you will have a significant improvement in the performance of your machine and it will have more stuff for it without having all the compatibility issues.

quick bit of searching brought up some info you can do either

1. duel boot vista and xp
2. run an emulator inside vista to make it think its xp

both are good ways but tbh i'd just remove vista it really is that bad.

I'd probably just get hold of the xp pro disc from somewhere (download etc) and backup your stuff and format it, but there are options that i mentioned in the other posts.
