S2 owners not on hear ?

This has troubled me for some time.

I am aware from my own experiences, and that of others that there are a number of S2's about who's owners are not familiar with this forum.
This raises a number of questions.

Where do they get tech advise ? (they must be experts)

How do they maintain these cars ? (Audi main dealer ?)

Do they have an interest in these cars at all ? (have they just fell into ownership)

How can we make sure these wonderfully cars are not falling into the wrong hands ?

Anybody else share these worries ?

I have often wondered about this but generally if I meet someone with a genuine interest in these car's I let them know, when I first moved down south I met a guy with one in his lockup, he's sorting it out and doing a few things but he's now on the forum

        Im always the opposite!
The last 4 cars Ive owned have all been very rare for one reason or another, and personally the more that are broken/crashed/etc the better, it means mine gets rarer

Well thats one way of looking at it.

tbh tho there are just people that see these as quick cars so just rag them till they die and get rid of them easily/cheaply as they don't know what they have.

            @ dest

I different view, but one I can understand.
I think its more my concern people not appreciating these cars.

My blood boils when people refer to my car as "that old Audi"

Its not understanding on their part.

I can see where your coming from, Its a stealthy car so why am I botherd ?

Just don't like it when people form an opinion about these cars (or anything for that matter) with out a knowledge of the subject.

Yes it is just an old audi but it is also so much more.

                cheers

There's a fair few very stupid people with money out there!! the rarity of an S2 will be completely wasted on your average Chav

Of course, but to some (most?) people its nothing more than an above average nice to look at and drive car, nothing more.
Not everyone shares our passion for them, just as you dont share the passion some have for knitting or train spotting. (Or do you? lol)

You are truly wise dest my friend

I just hope there is enough interest in these cars to keep the dream alive.

I have not got a fondness for either train spotting or knitting.

In my opinoin the S2 has bottomed out in price at the moment, meaning that any fool can buy one. In the next few year's the crappy car's will be driven to destruction or crashed. so in a decade maybe our well kept example's will prove to be a sound investment.

I hope so... but with (UK) taxes (etc) and fuel prices going the way they currently are, I'm not sure how many of us will be able to afford to run them

                          Ck.

I had my S2 before I was on the forum. I had a cq20v before that, but I had very little help with fixing/maintaining it, and I had to learn the hard way by myself. After I got to grips with that a 3B S2 was easy, as it's pretty much a 7A with a turbo.

Like Stu I had an S2 before I joined the forum and before that a 200 turbo.
My son found out about the forum, otherwise I may never of known about it. I very much doubt that I am alone there. Many of my generation where turned on to Audi 25yrs ago through group B rally, but could not afford to own one of the ur cars until much latter, (remember these where very expensive cars back then) trouble is when you buy one your hooked.
I have to say as enthusiasts we look at these cars through rose coloured spectacles and because of this there is a market for the cars this keeps the the price up,same applies to the sierra cosworth ect,but the majority of the general public just view these cars as old cars.
