I just say to my girlfriend i'm working on the audi..... Theres no real comeback to that for her and she knows it.

Having said that i have had a rough relationship history over the last 2years (strangely the same length of time i've owned my UR..)

"I've only got a few more bits to do and its done" is one you can use over and over...

Sorry, but " girlfriend" is the key here...start as you mean to continue. "I'm working on the Audi because it keeps me out of the pub/betting shop/billiard hall etc etc and saves enough money to have your car serviced at the Stealers" (try it, it really is logical - from our point of view !). A little later in life your other half may be only too keen to have you out on the driveway at all hours !

I've actually started to invent other places I'm going (S2 is at a friends workshop and not at home).

I take my dogs so it seems like I'm on another 'long walk other the mendips', trouble is the dogs are still full of beans when I get back 4hrs later!!

My working environment is trading cars, but I really 'do not go to the auctions' as much as i say i do..... Is that wrong of me? Am I technically cheating on her?

An affair with the S2, maybe that should be this thread's name....

              excuses

Er, that last comment would get a pan on the head from my wife. Best to say you have to get it working right so it remains reliable and doesn't break down on a day out, and doing it yourself is paying for the holiday.

If I tried that the ironing wouldn't be done, I'd get nothing to drink or eat, but would get some unwelcome attitude back.

Having said that, none of that's any different to normal anyway, so it might be worth trying just for the entertainment value.

lol as i said, mine is a legitimate mistress.....ply it with love, attention, money and there's no issue with my better half.

I always start any S2 work with 'I am just going to pop outside for 5mins to check something.......' 2hrs later, usually still outside with a bigger problem to fix than the one i was originally looking at

If she's a decent driver and you can trust her with your car, then when its finished chuck her the keys and defy her to not take it out and come back wit a grin...works everytime

same problems all around the world...
i have tried everything, even the fact that when it works great she loves the car more than i do!BUT all the usual excuses sometimes run out dont they?
For now we are at the point that when i come up to the UK,there wont be any time left for doing anything to the car rather than driving it on the weekends.
To tell you the truth,i think i have reached a point where i dont want to mess with t any more unless she(the rs2) gives me something to worry about.I know that this is a possibility,so i made a small box of usual suspects that go wrong to carry with me in case this scenario happens.Hopefully the only thing needing a mechanic to work on is the propshaft,so....im hoping i wont be getting any more attitude from the misses...

When my other half's not helping me with work on the cars, she's quite often in the kitchen cooking for me for when I finished.

She knows very well that if we don't do the work on the cars, someone else will have to, probably make a mess of it, charge us a packet, and create more work than was originally needed.
