I'd recommend taking the rear wiper of this time.
Yes but yours is a 3b ( prolly falling to bits anyway)
I did 170 in my coupe and it felt totally planted. ( ABY)

I personally think RS2 bumper is too open and not "square" enough - not convinced Porsche designed it to counteract lift but without testing it's impossible to know!

Still think a low square leading edge, full width, will work better.

The extra weight of the ABY prolly helps to keep it planted.

Are you all familiar with Rod Tarry's Sapphire Cosworth? Martin Hadland has recently done over 200 at the same place in an Escort Cosworth.
He has done over 200 at Bruntingthorpe!
There are alot of threads discussing the ins and outs of 200mph on passionford.com if you search for them.
From what Ive read, getting the from 190mph to 200 takes ALOT more power than you think!

This is intersting stuff about aerodynamics guys, I did feel like this was where the problem lies. From what I've heard the Avant is a better shape for V-max.

@ Ben I'll be interested in the calculator you have. IIRC I'd have to rev to ~7800rpm to break the 200 mark, not that I'd want to try TBH.
Steady! I never go with indicated, this was calculated off the rpm's in sixth, which I have forgotten. 5500 = 150mph or something like that. (Don't flame me!)

As speed rises, the aero losses are higher... So yes it takes quite a power bump to get from say 190 to 200mph.

Must admit my Coupe feels a bit floaty at very high speed - I put it down to big fat tyres and tracking that isn't perfect.

Standard 6-spd 01E box on S2/RS2 is 24.7mph in 6th assuming normal size wheels. So you'd need enough power to carry 8000rpm for a Vmax of 200mph.

In my B5 S4 i did 193 - same timing gear that EVO mag uses. THat was 7200rpm in 6th. My S2 has the s4 gearbox ansd revs to 8500. Will the S2 do that speed though?

                              Other cars speeds: EVO Lambo LP640 : 193mph !!!

on the same day i did my 193:
Lambo Murci: 193 ( i passed this on the straight so aerodynamics are what makes this good)
                              Carrera GT: 195
                              RUF RT12 : 211

Drag losses are the square of speed - hence twice the speed equals four times the drag, and yes - three times the speed equals nine times the drag - so the last little bit always gets harder to achieve.

I think aero aids (of the drag reducing variety) become more worthwhile in terms the weight penalty of fitting them as the proposed speeds increase.

Bear in mind that up to the point where the car hits an aerodynamic "brick wall" any weight reductions would also allow it to accelerate sooner, which on a limited straight line run could be crucial - this ain't Bonneville or El Mirage we're talking about!
