@Keeper - we know you are the Aero man... Not that 'Aero man' my wife's mate is always on about. Poor girl, but I digress.

Seen a mahoosive rear wing on a Coupe last weekend - think its made by Reiger.

My logic says it should create more downforce and help with rear-end stability at high speed... But would the increased drag from such a thing be detrimental - Whats your thought on that ?

Took ages to find a photo of sorts...

I see that Rieger also have a front splitter option for their front bumper (which doesn't look so cool IMO)... But if its functional for a mental target like DOugs then what the hey. Though can't imagine it would be so hard to construct a splitter for the S2 or RS2 bumper.

I reckon there's a nice wee job for the keeper here... An easily fitted/removed and affordable trackday/autobahn aero package for the S2 brigade. Designed by a man with racing pedigree too !

I think I would rather aim for 190, than have to to put that wing on my car and go for 200!

LOL @ Doug - I know... I joked with the guy if he got it from a Subaru - its not to my taste either. Goes against the 'sleeper' mentality, but I just wondered if it had some value by improving stability at high speed. I dare say something more subtle could be just as effective, but I'm just going on gut feel.

Any other ideas for dialling out that 'floaty' feeling - I find it comes in at speeds much lower than the lofty heights you are playing with. Not confidence inspiring.

i must admit that mine felt fine at a speedo registered 175.it doesn't have an undertray.also i've put my tom tom in a few cars and they are all roughly 5 mph faster on the speedo at any given speed.

Even I think that Reiger kit looks shyte and I'm supposed to be a chav*

*I'm not actually a chav but Lord Muirt hath decreed so it must be so!

I'm sure that there are some more subtle modifications to the standard rear wing that would help and a rear diffuser would be a good plan, perhaps a flat underside with a proper front splitter... this could be fun :mischeif:

All that underside stuff has a chance of working if you're about 3" from the ground or less - with sportscars we used to run about 20-25mm front ground clearance and up to 75mm rear (less with a single seater).

Rake with a flat underside in itself provides a venturi shape, we coupled that with legal regulation diffuser and a side vented front diffuser.

Of course there are no rules here....

You'd really need a totally flat underside to make this perfect, and it's fair to say that negative lift generated from the underside is "cheaper" than using aerofoils, which are notoriously draggy.

Never get too agressive with the angles though, or they can stall out. I reckon we were using about 8° to 8.5° at the rear but we had to start at the axle centreline, that's all changed now. Depends on where you want the centre of pressure...

PS - I wouldn't fit one of those things from Reiger either!!! I don't even think it has an aerofoil section? And it's mostly masked by the cockpit shape anyway. More likely to cause you to go 190 instead of 200...
