What makes you keep your s2?

Just out of interest what are other peoples reasons for keeping the s2.

We all know the plus points they have just wondered what other peoples view's on this are?

    Rarity, looks, performance.

They sum it up or me pretty much, in no particular order!

      • I can't afford anything faster, newer or more exotic.
      • I can't afford to run any of the above.
      • I don't want a diseasel cos they're ****.
      • Most cars I can afford are FWD and that's rubbish.
      • I can't be bothered to buy a beemer and go "ditch-finding".
      • I've spent a fair amount of money and a load of time rebuilding it and I'm damned if anyone else is going to enjoy it for now.
      • It's fast enough and handles well enough to keep me interested.
      • Noone's offered me a swap for one that's not white.
      • I like 17 mpg around town, it makes me feel all warm and cosy... maybe that's Global Warming
      • Last time I tried to sell it noone wanted it

              Should that be?

I've spent my life savings on "modding" my s2 but I won't ever get that back if I sell it.

I think our cars are rather different mr. Dougal! In fact yours is nearly twice as powerful as mine...

Forgot to add that I prefer the S2 to the S4, it's a bit rawer IMO. If I liked the S4 then I'd have gone down that route a while ago. Nothing like the clunking suspension, crap ride and impractial interior... good thing that the I5 noise beats that V6 all day long, the handling is much more lively & fun, the steering on the S4 is nowhere near as direct and the digital throttle is a PITA.

I'm on the wrong forum to try and convince you on the s4 - but i totally agree on that raw feeling - newer cars don't give you that.

(steering is more direct on the s4 than s2 when we are talking modified cars - standard both give poor feedback and wooliness! - the throttle on the s4 can be mapped to whatever you want! - damn - started the sell!)

I'd chose Dougs s4 sound over the s2 5cyl any day! and a lap on the ring revealed that it outhandels the s2 effortlessly too

That's the problem I have with it. If I want WOT then I'm perfectly capable of pressing my foot all the way down...

just means that you can beat most cars without even trying

The thing that annoyed me coming form a cable operated TB car was that when it really picked up at about 3/4 throttle you thought that WOT performance would be utterly mental... but it was already at full pelt so there was nothing left. S4s accelerate like a scaulded cat in the mid range anyway, they'll beat most things off the lights but I still prefer my S2, it's more fun and involving and that's saying something. Been in a 500bhp S4 and it was still ultra-refined, even with the loudest exhaust ever, sounded like a type C Jag at full pelt, awesome sound , but it still didn't make me want one, no wonder people get carried away going for 500/550/600 bhp with them, they just eat speed like it's a bacon buttie.

upto 750bhp S4 and going for 800 in an rs now andy - they are starting to feel more raw!

if you map a DBWcar to have a linear throttle response the car feels flat - a throttle cbale car does not give a linear response - still 90% of air going in at 60%pedal position
