Anyone been watching the coverage of the WRC on Dave? Better than the old ITV crap was. Have to say my love of rallying is gradually getting restored although I do have to watch a Group B DVD or two when I need a real rally fix! Shame the cars are lacking character although drivers like Gigi Gali add some character back in...

Pics are the same but the fact that it's scheduled at the same time each week, repeated in case you miss it and they put some filler programs in with some behind the scenes etc. is better IMO. Simple things and all that.Cheers'en, AndyC

My interest in World Rallying started to go downhill when WRC cars replaced Group A TBH, when David Richards took over it further went downhill IMHO. Making rallying appeal to the masses and spending half a TV program explaining what tyres are, instead of action from the stages, WTF was that all about?
When they started using cars such as the Peugeot 307CC as rally car I honestly think teams were starting to take the pỉss out of rallying. Whatever next? A Perodua Viva with an added 2 litre 16v and 4WD and extended bumpers?
Actually I still admire Mitsubishi for continuing with the Group A thing with the Evos, and continuing to win with Tommi Mäkinen after the WRC rules were brought in.
Bring back the good old days when rally cars had to be based on road cars.
I've just realised I'm turning into a grumpy old man, moaning about the modern stuff and going on about the good old days.

I agree with, i can understand why they had to reduce the speed of the carsMy interest in World Rallying started to go downhill when WRC cars replaced Group A TBH, when David Richards took over it further went downhill IMHO. But what gets me is you can go to Mitsubishi Subaru and Ford and pretty much buy one of those cars off the shelf and go rallying, but can you go to the froggies and do the same............ eeerrr NO!!!!Comment

He crashed into Conrad Rautenbach who was just starting stage 11. Have fond memories watching Conrads dad Billy and his mental Toyota Supras in the Zimbabwe challenge Rally. The guy was proper minted and was always followed by his own private helicopters and full private service crew (this was back in the late 80's, early 90's). He always ran a second car (identical) which he would use for spares if his ever broke down
. I wouldn't be surprised if he's funding Conrads WRC car.

They did show a lovely section on one of the shows about the Group B cars and also devoted a substantial amount of time to Audi Quattros, I still have that bit on tape and I am going to try and transfer it at some stage.Martin Cutting
