Info and viability in building an Audi S2 street/track car.

Hi guys I am new to the s2 forum and I have been doing a little research on new cars to buy when I finish the race car (1990 Daihatsu charade GTti tarmac rally car) I am after something that I can drive everyday and then tack to the track on weekend and compete against an bet my mates. (1 Subaru legacy turbo & 1 x 2002 wrx sti each 350+ whp). The S2 started to stand out as a car I could use to take it up to them.

Thing I have worked out from this form so far are.

Buying an S2 ABY 6 speed in Aus won’t be easy (around $30K Aus)
Mods this is where you guys come in.

    So far I have.
    Transmission - 6 speed good for 5-700hp
What the torque split on the torsen centre F/R 40/60 % ?
Audi V8 torsen LSD for rear ? what the lock up and is there anything better? Quaife front ATB maybe.
Quaif Front ATB – the reason is both my mates subis run front LSD 1 with 90% lock and they are amazing around the track

    Suspension
Thinking coilovers with adjustable camber tops front and rear. – what brands and spring rates setting do people recommend and what other mild mods to help it handle ?

    Engine
Now this is where I am at a bit of a loss what will I need and best place to get parts (ship to aus) to make over 230kw (320hp) at the wheels. With 4-600nm
ECU – what do people recommend thinking a good aussie one like Motec.

    Body.
Light weight wheels and race seats. I need to get the car down to around 1350kg (same as a legacy and sti)

I think this is it thank you for everyone time I look forward to reading your answers.

Hopefully and S@ will be in my garage in the near future.

Scott, engine wise the GT3071R and also the MD157 turbos have had excellent results.

You will need to have metal head gasket if it is an early ABY or 3B, conrods, intercooler, injectors, maybe uprated fuel pump, exhaust system and a remap

Also check out some of the project threads since there are quite a few that are running similar power and goals

the torque split on the torsen centrer on S2/RS2 gearbox is 50/50.

The the rear you could use Stasis rear diff,
Performance parts and tuning for Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, and Porsche in Redmond WA

Take a look at my project. I had the same idea in the beginning and now it has grown a bit

Make shure to check out www.034motorsport.com website for load of parts for S2.

S2s are pretty good fun on the track but they're neither lightweight nor nimble. What you do have is a lot of traction and that lovely 5 cylinder purring way out in front

3071 will give good results, 3076 if you don't mind the performance being alittle higher in the rev range.

Suspension can be fairly well sorted with a combination of solid, poly and promounts, several companies make coilovers but these aren't cheap!

Brake options are wide and varied but Porsche callipers up front and Paul's 8A0 rear upgrade if you deem it necessary.

Drivetrain is pretty bulletproof although the strength of the V8 torsen upgrade is debatable. Fir the B5 S4 box if you're going loopy on the torque stakes.

Get one without a sunroof if you're bigger than an Ump Lumpa and want to wear a helmet. Recaro make good subframes to fit their buckets to the OEM fixing points.

        Plenty more but HTH
