    Audi 100 S4 Help??

    Hello everyone,
Just converted to my first audi (im usually a dubber ) picked up a 100 s4 with 80k and 1 owner
I honestly don't know much about audis, just wondering what I can do to gain some extra HP. I know I gotta decat it and get a new 3" exhaust system...remap (or chip i think) intercooler etc, but has anyone got any advice as to specific parts I can use. I understand these are the same basic floor pan as early A6's. Does that mean A6 suspension and exhaust system will fit mine?
Absolutely any information would be useful inc wheel pcd etc and what wheels will fit straight on
Finally I can say Fire up the Quattro

The S4 has the AAN engine as per the URS6, not the ABY as per the S2. A homefry and decat are the best starting point. Engine is pretty much the same as the ABY though and what goes for one tends to go for the other...

Contact Paul (S2Central) and ask him about supplying some new chips and a lovely increase in power. If you manage to get hold of him nudge him about me if you don't mind. I'm keen to get my S6 on a homefry this month while I have the cash...

If there is anything you want to know, someone on here will know the answer. It's a great place for find things out.

They are basically the same apart from the inlet manifold and a couple of other tiny thinks but the block/head and internals are identical
Audi use the ANN manual for the ABY mechanics

The original avus alloys off an early s6 are 17" and look gr8 and keep the original look of the s-car, 18" alloys will reduce performance and give you a harsher ride.
Get the Stromung exhaust system from the US, its got a sports cat and sounds amazing, buy throught Posto off the Audiworld forum and I can get it shipped for you for £150.

Hi, good purchase. Looks like us S4/6 owners will be overtaking the S2 forum pretty soon!
                    Anyway to answer your Q's.

                    Tuning:

Reasonably low budget and highly recommended:

ECU remap (aka Homefry) by Paul (s2central) - £250 I think, giving 270-280bhp

Samco hoses - £165 ebay - To keep all of that lovely new boost in.

                    Mid budget:

                    Exhaust with cat bypass pipes - Stainless 3" - c. £500 - Various places

                    As above with 3" turbo back - c. £750 - Various places

                    High budget:

                    RS2 spec (do a search for info) - £lots - c. 330bhp

Adding a front mounted intercooler (FMIC) is a right pain in the proverbial. Most don't bother with mild tuning (below 300bhp).

                    Wheels:

                    Wheels are 5x112.

                    Usual upgrades include:

                    Audi S8 (versions 1, 2 and 3) 18" x 7.5 (require spacers front and rear) - version 2 shown

Audi S6 17" Ronal wheels shown

                    Various audi S4, RS4 wheels in 17" and 18".

Most prefer the feel of 17" whereas 18" for looks.

                    My recommendations:

                    ECU homefry

Change existing brakes (called UFO) for Audi S6 (1994-95).

                    Add 17" or 18" wheels

                    Samcos

                    H&R lowering springs
UrS6 - Homefry, Bailey DV, PiperX filter, Samco hoses, H&R springs, 3" D/P back zorst, 270bhp and 260ftlb

Triumph Daytona 955i - mmmmmm :fire:

                    80 dag dag :driving:

Welcome to the forum! Another urS owner!!! I too have got an 100 S4 with 80 thousand miles .. and the exact same stereo too! Spooky?!

It's worth making sure everything running 100% before you start thinking about upgrades. New wastegate valve, diverter valve, check all the hoses are airtight, get any ECU fault codes read, plugs, oil, filters, fluids, etc. Timing belt (plus water pump, tensioner, etc. ) is well worth changing if it hasn't been done in the last 5 years.

The standard exhaust is actually pretty good and is reputed to flow well up to 350-400bhp, but it is DAMN heavy and doesn't release much of that 5-cyl warble. Home-fry ECUs seem to have a great reputation around these parts, or if you have the money, a custom remap from MRC would be nice. RS2 exhaust manifold (or decent copy) is a good bolt-on option as the standard AAN manifold doesn't flow too well.

As Animal Mother said, the early UK market S4s have the weird UFO brakes on the front. If they are working well, they are very effective, but disks are ridiculously expensive and they have a reputation for warping easily. S6 struts and brakes are a bolt on, or there are Porsche caliper conversions if you can afford it.

It's a fantastic car for the money, so long as you can stomach the fuel bills!

Awesome info guys thanks. Will i have to go to powerflow to get an exhaust or are there aftermarket ones? Do A6 ones fit? And if so is the V6 or any other models 3"? 750 quid sounds a lot for a full system is there any others?
And yet again if so has anyone got one for sale
I don't really want to go with original rims... want some nice 17/18" deep dish rims...maybe drift style....maybe bbs RS/RM (possibly a bit much) or i've always been fond of borbet A's (bit pricey again). Anyone got any wheels for sale?
Central diameter of the S4 wheel off the top of anyones head?

Also does anyone know what sort of power the 4wd drivetrain can handle?

oh yeah got a bit of a problem... got a guy with a fault code reader coming at the end of the week but...
At high revs in every gear the last sort of inch of the accelerator travel it will start kangarooing losing power...any ideas?
And the brake wear indicator is on and its got new pads all round... the brakes arn't to bad tbh...not too high on my priority and the discs arnt worn

                            Nice buy

I can highly recommend a homefry, makes the car much nicer to drive. Shocks/springs are a wise investment too, i forgot how high they are on stock springs
