    LMAO @ Renault CLItOrus 'Sport'

VERY very funny... cruising along today with 6yr old kid in the car in traffic and some **** in a CLIO Sport is trying to scoot thru traffic and giving it some beans - making loads of noise. We had the windows open... Even the kid is saying things like 'duhhh stupid car'.

So we get alongside at the next traffic light - I'm actually a few feet behind him just for the extra surprise. It goes green and I open the taps with a fantastic launch - you can hear Renault boy bouncing off the rev limiter behind us... Then swiftly into 2nd... the Clio is reversing despite his best efforts.

Enough for me to make the point and I back off after this shortest of traffic light GPs with a max speed of ~60mph - me and the wee fella are pissing ourselves laughing as the Renault 'blasts' past to try and restore some pride. The driver has two spidey chums on board and they cannot have failed to see our mirth.

FWD just doesn't work really. My Polo spins the fronts up witha whopping 75bhp... how's a car with 175 supposed to work I know what, let's put 250+ through 1 set of wheels like Saab and Alfa seem to think is possible... no way.

My little mk2 golf has about 170bhp. And its wicked! Rapid, and like a go-kart! 1st is pointless without a reasonable amount of taming of the right foot, second is pretty scrabbley in the dry. But ive got to say, the look on some peoples faces in brand new 'hot' hatches when i D reg golf completely owns them is priceless.

Although i took CQ-ABY for a naughty not so legal spin down the road the other day and came back with such a grin!!!! Id love to know what power she is getting. Must be over 250bhp.

Al was running 250 on a completely standard car... no cats, decent exhaust and standard chips should see 260, mine was at 258 with milltek cat back and samcos.

I find that rather easy to believe. The boost gauge touched 1 bar. Not sure if that was over-boost or not though? Gotta play a bit more.

Yes, 1 bar is over boost. You need to be low in the revs and really press the accelerator down fast to get it to operate, you'll have times where the car feels flat... check the gauge, bet it's at 0.8bar and the overboost has decided to have the day off. It's very fickle. No such issues with Homefries though!

Had a 172 Sport pool car in my old job, flimsy as hell but used to really like it..especially blasts through the Cotswolds. Famous for cocking its rear leg tho on serious corners which i found quite fun.

You'll always get the chav's in their 1.4's with lexus lights and 4" exhausts trying it on, i normally leave em to it, look across and crack up.

Latest Focus RS is gonna be 300bhp as standard and FWD btw, how thats gonna work i'll never know..

Well the old RS had a quaife LSD in the front and TC. Great on the track. But try keeping it on the straight and narrow on a bumpy country road. Bit of a hedge hunter! Tends to just go in a straight line if you turn in and boot it too. 4WD all the way. Over 190-200bhp and FWD is useless IMO.

                    .

Front wheel drive is for those who drive by the seat of their pants...quite often filling the seat of their pants...

                    Tis fun though...
