On ebay: Anybody know of this coupe/s2

    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWA:IT&ih=011

Looks like somebody pipped me to the post of converting a brilliant black Coupe Quattro to full ABY 6-speed.

    Anybody know of it??

It looks to be a very tidy conversion. Perhaps a bit too tidy???
Battery moved to back, correct ABY fuel lines used. Strut brace grafted on, working A/C etc etc

Looks so good to me it could be an ABY s2 just with CQ registration.

Surely someone wouldnt have done all that work and not be on the s2forum??

Whoever did that is waaay more anally retentative than me. It even has the correct ABS pump, washer tank, hyd tank, dash switches, heater controls, you get the point

If anything thats an S2 re-shell not just a conversion.

It does look like a good conversion. I'm pretty sure that car was on eBay last year about October/Nov time. The only reason I remember is that's around the same time I bought my 3B. I was watching this one and was going to bid, if I remember correctly it got up to £3500 and the reserve was not met.

I think this is the one I won the auction for in 06 (at around the 2500 quid mark) and the kid reckoned it had been run into by some an uninsured polish driver ( after admitting he thought it would go for a lot more)so I said I might still buy it if its not too bad. He answered that with 'the insurance company has already taken it away'. So I asked what company was he with, what recovery firm moved it and where they took it to cos i was in the trade but funnily enough he didn't know any of the answers to these questions and not long after he closed the ebay account that he was using. It may not be the same one but it was the same colour, spec and the same re-shell/rebuild story into the same age coupe quattro. I reckon you can probably fry eggs on it but at the time I wasn't bothered cos it was so cheap. I'm glad I didn't end up with it though cos presumably it was somebodys pride and joy before it was r****d sorry I mean rebuilt as an S2.

Hey no need to apologise to me. There's no way you could be held responsible for the actions of others. If anything I should me the one apologising for slateing a fellow members car. I must state that I haven't seen the car in the flesh so I have not seen any physical proof of the car being dodgy but you might want to change the engine number on the logbook cos dvla think its a kv and these days police and insurers can be quite thorough if there's a serious accident.
                    Cheers,
                    Dan.

To be fair this does look a really nice car. If it has been reshelled then it has been done very well and much more attention to detail than my 10v to ABY conversion. (It amazing how many chassis differences there are between the 10v and the late s2.) Looking at the pics the car looks to have a cream headlining (correct me if im wrong) which would perhaps be the only indication of the cars previous life (ABY's came with dark headlining???)
There aint too many Brilliant Black Coupes out there.
I'm sorry if i may have offended anybody by suggesting it could be dodgy. Good luck with the sale.

It would explain why when I was comparing it to 3B at the last meet in Letchworth that I could see one or two light differences in body shape, I just put it down to being an ABY but maybe not.

I never understand why people spend so much money converting a coupe into a quattro when for the same price you can buy the real deal.

Think it was the original was damaged and the shell was available quickly/cheaply so it was done that way.

Looked good when I saw it, there's a few pictures from the meet in the galleries section on here.
