    A/C Compressor

Hello all long time without the forum, just back from 3 months in Canada, Sonic you would of loved it, big boys toys. Anyway I put the love of my life into get air con re-charged found out my compressor is a little bit dead, or rather a lot. Does anybody have an old compressor stashed away or know of where i can get one. Temp here in Germany is hot at the mo and i would like to be as cool as the 3b, but i know that will never happen.

Good luck not destroying the threads on the hoses when you loosen the hoses from the AC compressor.

2 different alloys that don't mix, nightmare.

similar prob for me, am having t-belt done at the moment, thread / hoses ended up knackered when removing from old condenser and compressor-end aparantly snapping off at compressor. estimated £350 +vat for compressor (non-genuine) 60 odd for hoses (on back order anyway, audi only ) aparantly quite time consuming too!
they will at least fit my new condenser when they put it all back together. (for ballast) guess getting the a/c up and running will be a job in itself. bit dissapointing really esp as all front end is off. will already be a hefty enough bill! was rather looking forward to working a/c
incidently, i am giving AMD technic ( based at lakeside thurrock) a chance to work on my car. to try them out a bit. seem ok so far, am waiting for a cover that was missing to come from audi. they did find cam timing slightly out too, will be interesting to see how car runs when i get it back. May also get a back to back run on their dyno, 12v versus 30v.

i don't know the part numbers i would need, but if anyone does and has them languishing let me know!

            regards

good luck sorting your A/C btw.

Oh yeah, thats the harsh reality alright, most of them end up with stripped threads.

worth noting that Pirtek were just starting to do aircon hoses to order when i went in not that long ago...might save the need to wait with Audi and probably a fraction of the price!!!!
