    Change of Residency?

Not quite the same scenario, but what happens to a person moving back or to the US as a change of residency and they want to bring and keep their RS2 / B4 Quattro Avant with them as it is their personal car?

Or what would happen if the person returning was a US citizen and working in the US diplomatic corp?

Or a foreign diplomat who brings in an RS2 to use as his personal car while on his posting in the US and then decided to sell it into the local market rather than spend the money shipping it on to his next posting? Would the US purchaser be buying an unusable car?

Also as a matter of interest how much does it cost approximately to container ship a car from Germany to the east coast of the US?

What do the US do to unwanted vehicles, as mentioned in an earlier post in this thread?

The above most likely does not help our US friends get a usable S2 RS2 Avant, but was just curious.

    Kind regards.

      David,
You can bring to US everything in cost of ~$1500 for transported container from Europe to east US. (am not sure about the price now)
But no one can promise you will get it from the port, as this could be seen as illegal import of non-original product or something.
But I believe there is a way to get your stuff safetly to US. Even when you get it, and you can fully proof you have two citizenships or other possibilities you mentioned above, you still have a VIN no. which is the first step to get things going. VIN shows the car as a non-US specs one = no US title = no US inspection = no registration = no insureance.
I believe some folks know how to deal with it, but I'm sure there is lot of up and downs and no one wants to risk. After you got the US title you made a big step. (I'm talking about cars pre-95 with OBD-I)

BTW - I know one S2 sitting in garage in my area. It's race car, it's not registered.

        Thanks for the response.

He who dares sometimes wins !

Looking forward to more updates on the ex German B4 Avant into a US RS2 Avant, on this forum.

        Thanks again.
