i believe you can uprate the injectors, also clean the intake manifold and block off the egr. other than that i think your looking at more cash, such as fitting higher rate turbo/manifolds, but then you may run into exhaust fitment issues ect. i think it was ben (s2avant) that got his up to 130 with just the above and an mrc remap on stock turbo....

A set of fratelli bosio nozzles(best ones available apparently) is about £150ish(including post) from here reported to give upto 20bhp,people rave about them on www.tdiclub.com keep meaning to buy some myself for my A6.Never changed any nozzles myself but i read somewhere it can be done in 20 minutes.

there are plenty of others makes available on ebay cheaper but is usually chinese rubbish which in some cases have made the cars less powerful!

Be careful on this chipped TDi stuff - I know someone with a Skoda Octavia using that same engine - it has a piggyback chip job - fakes the MAF signal for the ECU to get more fuel injected... Sure has some extra poke but its killing the clutch with the extra torque and its not nice to drive because of it.

BTW - I'm not saying all TDi upgrades are the same - just saying be careful as the transmission will take an extra battering and unless they have something as good as an 01E gearbox and a mighty good clutch then you could be in for trouble.

Personally I dont see the point of chipped TDi on a FWD car - masses of extra wheelspin from a standstill - been driving quattro for too long I guess - makes you forget what wheelspin is (unless really giving it the full tin o beans in the wet or worse).

Mine had the EGR system removed, the intake manifold cleaned out, Tdi110 injectors and an MRC generic chip. Gave it 132bhp/202lb ft.

As a cheap start to making it quicker I'd start with blanking of the EGR (You can get EGR plates of ebay - they are listed for Land Rovers) and clean out the intake manifold. Also worth renewing all the vacuum pipes in the engine bay. This should put you somewhere close to what it was like when it came out of the factory and should be a boost over what it manages now.

Bigger injectors or nozzles will give you another power hike. As has been said these are available from several sources. It will smoke more with bigger nozzles though. You can also tweak the boost on the turbo to clear up some of the smoke but you need to be careful. The TDi boost control is very erratic and boost spikes are a common occurence. The stock headgasket won't like boost much above 18psi for any length of time and the turbo will be at it's limits. If you fit a boost/bleed valve on it you can cap the boost at 18psi. I had the headgasket fail on mine and it ended needing the heater matrix, waterpump and all the plastic water housing replacing.

I was planning to fit a 3bar MAP sensor in mine (still have it at home somewhere). Without a remap to suit this it would affect the scaling in the ECU giving an effective 18psi peak but I would have needed a bleed valve to cap the boost off.

It is worth heading over to TDIClub as there is wealth of info on all aspects of TDi tuning.

As Paul has said though traction can to be a real problem especially if it is damp/wet. Mine would spin up in third in the damp. I also destroyed a gearbox. On my 80 I fitted the B5 Passat TDi110 box and that had much better ratios. Although to be honest researching gear ratios is perhaps a little OTT but I do tend to get carried away with what is supposed to be a sensible daily driver.

Which reminds me does any one have experience of MegaJolt (Megasquirts baby brother) on a Rangerover V8?
