hahaah, thanks friends for all the replies.

i think that the EVO 5 or 6 are so beautiful, for me more the the S2 coupe and there are more practicable with th 4 doors maybe one day i wll have sons and my girlfriend always said me 2 door cars area **** whem people have 3 o more family

RS2 can be the response, but my fav are the EVO´s from year 98-2000.

the engine surelly are more strongers the steel block of 5 cilynder audi but....

at the day today i am not sure if i want sell my S2 or not... because its a genuine car,and it make me "feels" especial on board with the 1,7bar with stock k24...and with few money more its possible reach 350hp very reliable like as you said always with the RS2 upgrades and perfonmances

The one thing I will give the chav's credits for when they swapped there nova's etc for one of these is they kept the baseball caps to go with the car.

The thing that makes me laugh about these and subarus is you might be travelling at around 20-30mph but you can hear the car coming and if they put there foot down the tone does not change much just gets louder and annoying. There was a thread on here a while ago with a subaru racing an rs4 (iirc, it was some audi s machine) and to recall jas11n's words the noise from the subaru would just do your head in, at the speeds they was going it was just a mono tone with nothing really nice about it.

Evo GSR was de cated, air filter, BOV, Tein coilovers, and one of those silly little 'T' type boost controlers.

In the straights I was faster, not by much but I was just fast enough to pass him, in the fast corners i was faster also in the slow, braking i was slower!

I feel in the right hands the evo would have beaten me in the slow corners but apart from that there was nothing in it, and i love the Evo (also the impreza) but my S2 is in my eyes a far better car once you modify it a little.

I have driven 2 differen impreza's an evo 5 GSR and an 6 RS, they were good out of the box but lacking in any luxury, once you start tuning them, 400bhp is your realistic limit before diffs, gear box, engine block (impreza), drive shafts etc become a long term reliability issue.

Again S2 wins for me for clarification.

Look up Jonus racing V norris Evo (cost of the modification to the Evo is £150,000+, and still looses to jonus!)

But at the end of the day after all that is done, its what makes you happy, not me or any other forum member!

i agree you in 99% but.... ,evo 6 have the disvantage of the reliability againts the L520vT but my heart always loved it.other "bad"thing is the RHD in Spain...

my case its like the "oem" Liverpool football fan forever, but playing in the Manchester United.... 2 teams, both greats,i have my head in one but my heart in the other...

        thanks for all wacht points

Well to be honest i have never liked the EVO, just cant stand the car maybe something to do with the fact there JAP cars and have never liked the look of them, but as already mentioned by others its just personal prefrence. Build Quality of the EVO lets it down big time so definetly a no go for me, but the car has a following and some do like it.

The S2 is a solid car and the built quality is superb, but its a dated car and not many good examples left around. The S2 is worth next to nothing now get a scratch down the side and you risk having the car being classed as a right OFF which doesnt help but on the other hand you can pick them up for peanuts now.

When comparing the 2 i dont think there is much in it pretty much level par.

when both cars are moded then i would go S2 all the way as you can upgrade to RS2 spec change the bumpers & wheels and the S2 starts looking alot more agressive and with the engine upgrades running close to 400 Bhp believe the S2 would win all round hands down!!

            Evo Vs S2

I personaly agree with Quattro and Marks2, the S2 is much better built than the EVO and generaly more reliable...... But i have to admit i like the EVO 4 RS...

If you want to know more about the EVO's try checking out the Mitsubishi lancer register ( MLR )... Check out the running cost section as they are very expensive to own and run, my friends EVO 6 GSR gets about 12 to 18 mpg being driven normaly and sub 10 when driven hard.. the same goes for my friends EVO 8 GSR and another friends EVO 9 FQ360. they reconed an average of 18 mpg at best.. also the active yaw control on GSR models has to be serviced every 4500miles...

But it is down to your own decisions, good luck what ever you decide..

Thats hardly a fair comparison though is it!?
The Norris Evo is primarily a track car, where as Jonus built his specifically for the strip.
You also forgot to mention the diffence in power between them both too!

Evo is a great car and is undoubtedly faster stock than a stock S2 but they'renot really aimed at the same thing, S2 is smooth and effortless, Evo is mental. It's only fair to compare the S2 to Evo IV or below due to age but the EVOVI is the daddy, shame it looks like its had an accident with a Halfrauds Ripspeed department. Be a nice track toy but then so would a Sierra Cosworth :mischeif:

You have to spend alot on a Cossie to make it a reliable track car!

Don't care , they're mental and a lot more difficult to drive than the S2 and in my book that means more fun! If I hadn't gone this far with mine then I might have been tempted by an E30 or Sierra as a track car purely because they're more challenging and I wanted to scare myseflf .

I guess you are on about the 2wd one then?
My 4x4 Saph was lowered with decent shocks and springs, and was no harder to drive than my S2 is

Yeah, comparing to a mate's 3dr stage 1 with shocking rear tyres.

The 3 doors are brilliant drivers cars, still hanker after a 2wd sapphire tbh.

Saw a couple of nice examples today on the m4

the evo's handle a LOT better than the old S2.
But they are cars that make very mediocre drivers look like very good drivers - they are very easy cars to drive fast and the electronic diffs just sort the power delivery out for you. Next time you see one at the track, watch it coming out of a tight corner, you can see the diffs and yaw control moving the car about as they help to put the power down.
The Evo IV is supposed to be the best drivers car out of the bunch, as its not got the AYC and is the most fun to drive.
I personally like Evos but i don't think i'd ever choose one over an S2, they are souless, and whilst infinitely more respectable than an Impreza in my opinion, still a bit chavvy and obvious.
Having said that, if someone offered my the keys to a stock S2 or an stock Evo for the day, i know which i'd choose, but it wouldn't be the same car i'd take home

Right now I'd take an Evo VI over my S2, but while there are similarities (4WD, turbocharged) they are still very different. My reason for wanting the Mitsubishi is that I have a friend who knows that car inside out. I am looking to sell my 3b coupe in favor of an evo eventually. Ideally I'd have both though.
                              S2 sold.

Evo is a 4cyl, end of discussion for me.

For speed, refinement, and practicality my RS4 is awesome.

Real fun on a track needs something dedicated to the cause and depends hugely on personal taste and which wheels you enjoy being driven most.
FWD - my poison is a Mk2 Golf, others swear by VR6 Corrados, Integras or 205s
RWD - No point even suggesting something - massively subjective, Caterham, Atom, E30 Bimmer, Midget For my sins I'd take a 924 Carrera GT thanks.
4WD - Purely for trackwork, I guess an Evo would be one of the best choices for easy speed, but again it's subjective - I reckon it would be massively more satisfying to waste all the run of the mill Evos and ScabbyDoos with a immaculate pearl-white Ur-quattro...
                                Nothing feels fast for long...
