It goes something like....
For LWB cars
Gp4 Standard Arches - and laterly, with arch 'eyebrow' extensions -
Gp B A1 - Larger arches flared from the window line and with 1 bottom louver.
Gp B A2 - Larger arches flared from the window line and with 2 louvers. (I think, but could be wrong, that one louver was for the brakes and one for the rear diff cooling)
Then they went short...
The roadgoing shorts had a single bottom louver whilst the rally sports had a single upper louver...
Most SWB reps mostly run the rally style 'upper' louver on a road car, that's the easiest give-away on a replica, even if the screen angle's correct.85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep

The A2 Evo was the last of the LWB cars with extensive use of carbon, aluminium and magnisium alloys for the body and chassis. There were a lot of A1's that were updated to A2 spec as the parts became available in the 84/85 series, and cars that were stil running alongside the sports even picked up some of their technology. There's A2 cars out there that started life in 1981 as Gp4 cars, but were systematically updated each season/every time they were wrapped around a tree/changed keeper.85 WR Urquattro, 85 20vT International liveried RallyRep
