Good to see once again this government tackling the really big issues

i am in total agreement about the scum that are on the road without tax and insurance but i can almost guarantee that there will be no obvious difference in the price you will pay for car insurance.

Like everything else from this bunch, its another scam to get money and taxation out of us and the motorist is the easy target.

That's pretty much the case here in Sweden as well, except a little tax sticker (approx 10x3cm) you put on the rear number plate whenever you get it.
No insurance, owner, tax nor MOT papers required with you, it all shows up on the cops computer.

        It was at one point....

This will screw alot of people... imagine the likes of audibits2 etc who buy and strip cars, whilst he has them in one piece thats going to be a pain.

I've currently got 3 cars and one to collect (eventually ) so if this comes into force I might as well either sell/scrap them or quit my job as insurance is bad enough at times and especially considering the insurance companies only let you use your no claims on 1 car at a time (I know theres now multi car from the likes of admiral) so that means insurance will be higher still.

Just seems like another government idea which can be described as "oooh look there's a hole there which will generate money if we close it and hide it under the pretence of catching bad people even though the idea is plainly stupid and the bad people will ignore it anyway".

Yes, but only if you hold a non-UK passport.

          Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

This is a subject dear to my heart. I had my car rear ended by an uninsured idiot several years back which left me heavily out of pocket so anything to get these wa#$%rs off the road is fine by me, however this pr&*K walked from court with a slap on the wrist and a few quid in costs, apparently because he had nowt. I took advice on taking private action to recover my costs but again, as he did not have a single penny to his name I was told it was pointless, good money after bad. So explain to me please how this new rule will effect people like that, not one little bit is the answer, they will carry on borrowing cars, stealing cars or driving around in semi scrap worthless cars in the knowledge that the savings far outway the consequence of being caught. This is just another misguided, badly thought out plan to increase stealth tax on the honest UK worker.

And what about all the racing cars stored in garages all over the UK!! Be interesting to see what sort of Insurance Quote Lewis can get on his F1 car from Direct line when he next comes to Silverston
