Leaky Avant - anyone found a cure?

This is the second leaky Avant I've owned - the first one being my trusty old TDi. After the heavy rain we've been experiencing recently my leak has returned with a vengance. The car actually had about half an inch of water sloshing from front to back when I drove it on Thursday (bear in mind I have no carpet to soak up the water!).

It is leaking through the underside of the dashboard and the bonnet pull is wet, so it's up on the right hand side somewhere. It might leak on the left side too but I'm not sure.

There is some expanding foam type stuff near the fusebox but I imagine this isn't helping at all and is probably actually hiding the problem.

Anyone know where I should start to look and/or how to cure this? I really want to get it bottomed.

    Cheers

sounds like a leaking grommet where the cable for the bonnet release passes through the firewall.......think its a common problem.
