    What an interesting afternoon!!!

Well, I've just got back form 3 hours at A&E after a pretty worrying afternoon...

It all started well, I woke up feeling a touch better than normal, the sun was shining and it was perfect weather to take the car out for the first time in a while. So I went for a drive, not too far but still got to open her up a few times.

Anyway, got home and thought I'd check under the bonnet as I'd had a water leak I'd not found... saw that there was some fresh water on the after run pump so decided to investigate further. I put my finger on it to see whether the leak was there and the next thing I know I've got a mouth, face and chest full of high pressure, scaulding coolant. Suffice it to say I wasn't best pleased and removed myself unceremoniously from the area with extreme haste.

I knew at that moment that things were a little seriuos, my tongue was burned and my face and eyes were stinging like hell. I immediately turned the car off, closed and locked it and went indoors and got some cold water on the left side of my face. One look in the mirror confirmed that my boyis good looks were slightly redder than I remembered them and so out came the frozen peas! I then had to get a lift to A&E with my Mum and spent 2 hours waiting with a dressing on my face.

The result of all this is that I have received first degree burns to the whole left side of my face and my right hand. Hurts like hell and is bright, bright red. Luckily it shouldn't scar so I would appear to have been rather fortuante indeed!

I've just looked at the car on my return to see what the phook was the matter and the plastic inlet to the after run pump has sheared off, I assume with age, and has sent a high pressure jet of water in my direction!

I'll get some pics later on when I've had a chance to settle down, I could have done without this with everthing else that's going on right now!!!

Blimey. And there was me thinking I'd had an unlucky day!

Well pleased that the prognosis is good and that there won't be any permanent damage. All the best for a speedy recovery!!

****!!! Sorry to hear that Andy. Talk about life kicking you when you are down!

My Afterrun pump failed in a similar but much less spectactular or dangerous way, with only a little squirt from the cracked pipe. I guess I am kind of lucky mine did not do the same when I was playing with it...

Hope you feel better soon mate.

        Cheers,

        Steve.

Sorry to hear that mate, but it sounds like you'll live to fight another day! I had a similar one when the inlet to the radiator sheared off whilst driving and i opened the bonnet.

It's one of those shok things, everything seems really clear. I quite calmly phoned my Mum at work and she was a lot more vocal than I was!

                Oh well.

The other shytter is that the car is booked in for the exhaust on Saturday so I've got a day to bodge it

Just an afterthought - you WERE lucky in that a frozen pack of peas was only a few steps away from the accident - think of the state you'd be in if that was at the roadside. Ngggggg

feel bad for you! hope you get well soon.On the health side of matters, the fact that the face has very good vessel haematosis, its why it wont leave a scar and also the fact that you didnt get any heavier burn.
