The pedals look nice too. I'm surprised it got as far as the rolling road as well, after all that filing, with the valves still in, I wouldn't be surprised if he didn't even clean all that swarf off.

Without reading much further than third page. (not even reading, but just took a glimpse here and there), the filing the squiah band is old skool mod in NA world, proven to work pretty well in certain applications. Not tried myself, but I know a pretty few NA rally motors, that have the same mod. I think very popular in Finnish group F starlets, which produce pretty often some 180-190hp from 1.6l 5k-pushrod motor...

For me it looks like the haters are just as clueless as the builders. Most of the haters have never put up a motor themselves, and therefore are a bit challenged to make statements to any direction, if You ask me.

For example, on some page the head-hater makes clear the spanish dooder is an idiot while using oe gasket. I am not saying it is the same as HKS, but I say it doesn't matter. As if You blow the oe 4g63 headgasket, the HKS stamp won't help a bit, it's a toast anyway..

Not knowing Jap crap they could be right, it could be like building a high power I5 and using a paper gasket instead of the metal one...........

Now we know a few people have done this on the forum

Well, the evo motors I have opened, have had metal gaskets, just like the I5 one.
