    Another rear ending

How ironic that I was looking through David's post on insurance advice yesterday and I'd only gotten out of the car this morning when my missus calls me to come back cos some tit has just driven up her **** so to speak. Seems he fancied having a go at jumping a red light and managed to pile into the back of our car instead. Glad she's already dropped my son off.
So I'm now told by his insurance company that's he's admitted full liability. they asked if they could get it into one of their approved garages in the area to be fixed so I said no, i'd leave it into a place I trust. The lad seemed fine with that. Dunno what the story's going to be. Not the best pic but the bumper's caved in, rear quarter's well in, light's exploded, both doors gouged. ah nuts.
The garage is to fax a fully costed estimate to the insurance company. All advice greatly received. If I leave it to the bodyshop I trust will I need to leave it elsewhere to check the suspension, rear diff etc in case it was damaged?
Oh yeah - while I wasn't at work my dept was restructured and i'm now apparently being moved into another job I don't want. fuking ace day

Hope everything is ok. You were smart to insist that you...

take your car to a shop you trust and have the work done to your satisfaction. Here in the States, the injured party must dance to the tune of the insurance companies. They will tell you to take it to 3 shops & get an estimate. If it sounds to high to them they will tell you that they will declare the car a total and pay you what the "Blue Book" says the car is worth. If you disagree, "tough " they will tell you..take it or leave it. They then will dare you to take them to court. You can always sue the driver who hit you but 9 times out of 10, it will cost you more to sue then get your car repaired.

Maybe your new job wont be too

Not good news on all fronts dude, hope all goes well with everything and chin up at least a restructure is better than a bye bye, Having to go through that at work at the moment (fortunatley my position is not affected, but I feel for those that are).

              Cheers dude.

@Panzer - we all in the UK wish we had the 'blue book' system in the states... Its a well respected regularly updated resource that is easily available to traders and the public. I'm sure it will have the occasional mistakes for certain models as there will inherently be a bit of lag before they update things, but at least you have a common reference point... If your car gets totalled and you get 'blue book' value for it - then you genuinely know you have a good chance of sourcing a replacement in similar condition for the same money. In the UK its a bloody joke for the injured party - especially with rare cars like ours that are expensive to fix.

Thanks lads. Aye at the end of the day it's just metal and the missus is ok (I got the car about 30 miles away but had to go a good 2000 miles for her and I ain't doing all that again)
Steve - you're right. Gabe would have been right at that corner if he'd been in the car. And if he'd had the life scared out of him I would have had to stick my foot up the guy's **** when I saw him, rather than just giving him the brows and asking him how the fuk he'd managed what he'd done.
Darren - The brake and sidelights aren't working but indicator lens is OK within its own wee cover. not 100% road legal but I'm hoping to leave it into the shop tomorrow and the insurance dude said he'd organise a "hire car" while i'm without my own. Hope he meant courtesy car cos I ain't paying for a hire car. Not with 2 spare coupes on the drive anyway
Az - you're right. I still have a job at the end of the day. Trying to be positive until I have my 1-2-1 meeting with my new manager tomorrow (and see if he's going to be a complete **** or not).

Better pic of the rear quarter. I opened the back door on that side earlier and there's a wee kink above the sill

This does indeed suck, but as said already - metal is much easier to fix than flesh and blood... That car looks fairly fresh to me, so should be an economical repair for the insurance nazis - good on you for putting the car in a place you know and all the best getting it repaired as best it can be.

That kind of damage on the average S2 would have been fatal... Jees I'm starting to get paranoid here about driving my car at all - there's so many ****wits on the roads these days - many of them not insured either. Scarey biscuits....

thanks paul. funny thing is if this had happened to the s2 after i rebuilt it i'd currently be in jail having wiped the road with the offending driver. Much easier to fix or replace an A6 than an S2. Now that is just on par with mistreated puppies on the sad scale.

aww piss. Repair estimate was £2400, assessor gave them the go ahead to fix it today so I called him and said I didn't want it fixed, I wanted the money. He agreed £3000 was a fair price as I'd asked for but he couldn't spend an extra £600 if he could avoid it. So we haggled and i'm getting £2700. Might go and get £300 worth out of the other driver's balls.
So now i'm going to have to tax a coupe while I go car shopping and put more money to it. ******* ****.
