after downloading the RS2 manual from http://pdftown.com/Pdf-eBook/Audi.html
I noticed it used the 3B Engine Mechanics. Are they close enough for this manual to be of use??....having never owned a 3B it seemed wise to ask people that know...
Thats typically lazy of Audi documentation... Refer back to older material and highlight any differences. Pretty odd when you think that there IS a mechanical manual for ABY which is of course more close to the RS2 mechanics... Its not a big deal however as long as you know where all the differences are -
RS2 items over and above 3B
metal head gasket and therefore alleged reduced compression ratio from 9.3 to 9.1
dual mass flywheel
different IM and EM
heavier duty big-end (and main ???) bearings - these became norm for ABY/AAN of course
oddball timing belt
retarded cam timing (caused by oddball cam pulley wheel - same inlet cam timing as 3B and ABY)
oddball water pump (that spins faster)
one weird and wacky water hose for return plumbing
oh and no mechanical alignment for dissy (uuuhhhh no dissy)
