    Top Gear - Aussie style

You gotta see this - they've got all the TG stuff, but they just don't quite pull it off, you'll see what I mean about half way through

Here in Australia, I've been reading the feedback letters in the newspapers, and online forums, regarding TGA and I was a little surprised to see that I was not alone in my thoughts by any stretch, in fact my -pasted- reply below to a series of posts on our local Audi forum was a moderate view, such has been the extreme embarrassment and regret by our viewers that this local version is aired to an international audience>

What a total bunch of cocksters !
....you nailed it....BOGANSVILLE CENTRAL......err WTF, Australian TV really doesn't get worse than this, I mean Prisoner reruns would be seriously more mentally stimulating than this
I watched one and a half episodes and then found myself pissed in a Maccas car park with the remains of a Cheeseburger oozing out of my eye sockets and skid marks on my frontal lobe... .......somebody at SBS needs a total labotomy for letting this go to air and removing the original article

That is pretty random and Charlie Cox is a legend but the other 2 presenters are weak to say the least...

Wow, i had no idea that topgear was over in oz too.

Its a bit odd seeing it with different presenters but filmed and produced in almost identical style, Is this also sponsored by the BBC? or do they have there own rights on the show?

I like the way he's on what looks to be a runway closed to everything and is looking if anythings coming

I think it was brought over from UK as the track they use has corners such as "Clarkson Corner", they just try to copy too closely the dry British Humour, they drive like fairys, all pinned up to the wheel the way my Aunty drives back home, bolt upright pinned to the wheel, what they need to do is a UK stig, V's Aus stig.
The program is still heavily biased to Australian cars in general, they go on about their HSV's and GTO's which are all 5.7-6.2 L chevy/ford engines, which for their size kick out a massive 500 odd Nm (havn't i heard that figure on this forum a few times from our 15 yr old piddly 2.2's). Then an R8 came and demolished their track times not on a hot dry sticky day like the Aussie cars had, but in a monsoon of a day with monsterous amounts of water on.
The Audience is cheesy all grinning in the background and the participation in the "What were they thinking" wall is real double gloucester.

                  Ah feel better now
