    What's My Car Worth

In the near future I plan to replace my S2 Avant, which I have had for nearly seven years for a B6 or B7 S4 Avant.

My problem is how much is my car realistically worth as I have a friend who is interested in it.

It is a 1995 ABY Avant in green with 188k on the clock, it's used daily and is in average condition, I also have all receipts from new

Modifications are RS2 dampers, ARB’s & drop links, Blue UR Quattro top mounts, 322mm front Brembo/Porsche (996) brake upgrade, Recaro aftermarket front seats and RS2 Porsche Cup replica wheels, Tinted film on Glass, & towbar.

I also still have the original front seats, brakes & wheels so these would go to the new owner unless I had to trade it in then I would swap them over and sell them.

Any ideas what is sensibly worth?

    Thanks

    Jim

Do you have any pictures and what sort of condition is the bodywork etc in?

I haven’t seen any other S2’s recently to compare the bodywork to but for car this age and mileage and never been resprayed it looks quite good, but it would never be regarded as A1.

Also what would the wheels, seats and brakes be worth, if sold separately?

        Looks a nice example.

Seats i've no idea but got to be worth a bit as you have the bases.
        brakes £500+
wheels - noels selling a set without tyres in the for sale thread £250 so be more with decent tyres

Might be worth putting the car back to standard and selling it as standard and offering the prospective buyer first refusal on the other bits?

I've no idea what the whole cars worth i'd have thought as standard at least 3k upwards but i've no idea. What are they selling for on pistonheads etc.

Looks nice. Ballpark figure for the car standard I'd say something like £4k, sell the toys separeately unless you can get more from the right buyer.

            Hi

Had a quick look at Pistonheads and they range from £2200 -6750, and the mileage from 82k up to 174k.

Yes, it would be quite easy take the seats, wheels and brakes off and sell for some extra cash, those runners for the seats were quite expensive.

With the currently car climate and prices in free fall do you think that a car this age can stiil command good prices, I suppose the fact that only 320 Avants were ever imported must help.

I would say in this climate chap, if you stuck it up as is at £3.5 - £4k i don't think the phone would be to hot. Trouble is, S4 Avants start at similar money so would have to be a proper 5cyl enthusiast. People are advertising their S2's at "healthy" money, but advertising and actually selling are 2 different things. Prob more cost effective to sell the the goodies seperately. Good luck whatever mate..

as above sell the goodies seperately to make back a bit more, you must remember avants are getting alot rarer with them being stripped/crashed quite often

Well I was originally thinking along the lines of £1800-2000 as a minimum for the car then sell on the extra bits, unless my friend wants to have them then hopefully we could come to a deal. It should still be a great car for many years to come.

The point about the S4 is very true that’s why I’m thinking of the newer ones maybe 2004 or 5 as they have really dropped over the last six months, even RS4’s are coming well down. If they are as good as the S2 I'll be keeping it for many years so the future drop in price won't really bother me.

I'd put it up for more than that and you should get it, at that price it would sell easily from what i've seen but maybe just for the running gear which would be a shame

Yes that would be a shame, I'd rather let my friend have it for a fair price that we both like as I'm sure he'll really enjoy the car.

tbh, if you don't mind doing that then at least you know its gone to a good home and you get to see/experience it when you see him and it keeps another one on the road.

I just hope which ever car I get next is as good as my S2 has been, if it's not then everytime I see my old one I'll be wishing it was still mine.

                          Thanks for the advice.
