      That is indeed very agreeable!
(Even more so if it had a 20V Turbo 5-pot though, personally speaking)

Was gonna say... they have done a great job getting all those lines to look right - I personally think shorty conversions with a Typ85 coupe front look a bit pants really. This looks right, but then they put the wrong engine in... In fairness though - looks like a VERY neat job and I bet its a hoot to drive - would sound all wrong, but fair does - this project has been thought through - they didn't just put that engine in by accident. Twould be usable as a daily driver - jus be careful where you park !!!

The $US69k is waay to high a price for what it is - three wrecked cars beautifully melded into one replica. Someone offer him £25k !

i actually think that V8 is good, its not a real sport so its not going to be original so wh ynot be different?? i actually prefer the V8 engine note, not as fitting for a quattro i understand...but i think its nice, as Paul said tho....$69k....seriously?!?! its real nice for sure...but you can get an original for that money surely??

The guy is smoking something - as nice as a conversion that it is - he aint getting $69k in this day and age for a replica - especially a replica that is just a look-alike... Now if he had sourced and rebuilt a KW engine and all the other unique sport bits it would have been very specially attractive to the hard core quattyheads... Don't get me wrong - there is definitely been a lot of work put in and on paper it looks like a fun machine with some unique aspects. Could argue its more like a kit car than a replica - so $69k is dreaming !

AFAIK all 4.2s are ally, did a bit of reaserch and found that the ABZ (32v) is around 17kg heavyer than an ABY, the later 40v is only 2kg heavyer due to a few magnesium parts and chain timed. either way nothing to write home about, less than a batterery i'd guess......not too sure how much a batt weighs tho lol...

Hmm - maybe the V8 is heavier than a bare IL5 but you need to take in account all the other stuff you need around the car too. A V8 is really a pretty good choice! They respond very well to tuning, look at the two V8's 034 built, the N/A ones. With not much done to them at all, they are closing in on like 400hp - that's N/A which means it will be useable on a whole other level than a 2.2T will ever be. The good thing about V8's is that they are dirt cheap - who in their right mind would ever do anything to a V8 when the IL5 is so good, eeyy?? If you are after max hp the V8 isn't your cup o' but for track use and winter time ice racing, a tuned V8 is a good thing...

That said, I can't open the link as my company policy stops me... Oh and, yes, in my garage we have two 80GTEQ beeing built with 4.2's...
