Servicing Schedule - What do you do?

Guys, thought it might be a damned good idea to detail what we do service wise every 1k, 3k, 10k, 20k, 50k for example. This could be used to give Forum users a rock solid guide to servicing their Audis or something to make sure that their local specialist follow.

Things like problem areas specific to the S2 e.g. coil pack boots and wiring, hall sender condition, hydraulic system could be detailed. I'll knock something up tomorrow but post your suggestions, this can include Audi and general service items too of course.

    Something like

    Every 1k
    • Oil level - make sure it's near the top to stop "tap tappety tap tap tap" after a thrash
    • Water level - minimum mark when cold
    • PAS fluid - make sure some's in there

    Every 5k
    • Oil and filter (excessive but track work makes this worth while, I actually do it every 3-4k)
    • Check brake pads & discs
    • Boost leak test (full system)

    Every 10k
    • New plugs
    • Clean air filter (K&N pannel)
    • Clean MAF
    • Check DV operation

    Every 50k
    • Replace cambelt
    • Replace tensioner
    • Replace lower pulley & bolt
    • Replace PAS & AC belts
    • Replace PAS fluid
    • Fuel filter
    • Clean PAS reservoir cap
    • Check brake bomb operation if no (!) on dash

Sooooooooooooooooo many other things but it could be a real goldmine of FAQs, BTDTs, links to things like a cooling system bleeding guide or a PAS fluid change guide could be added too.

I'd say mines pretty similar to yours mate, except I don't need to change oil as regularly with the 7a

I check my fluids & tyre pressures about weekly and normally get wheel alignment done every 6 months or so.

New brake fluid goes in every 12mths or sooner.

I'll go through my service history and see what else there is to add

Never had a problem but good thing to check.

Take my list and update it like so:-

Oil level - make sure it's near the top to stop "tap tappety tap tap tap" after a thrash
Water level - minimum mark when cold
PAS fluid - make sure some's in there

          Every 5k

Oil and filter (excessive but track work makes this worth while, I actually do it every 3-4k)
          Check brake pads & discs
          Boost leak test (full system)

          Every 10k

          New plugs
          Clean air filter (K&N pannel)
          Clean MAF
          Check DV operation
          Check rear calipers

          Every 50k

          Replace cambelt
          Replace tensioner

            .

If you're still running the factory breather system...every year clean throttle body and ISV.

With a catch tank...check internals for contamination.

            50k tensioner/water pump.

I second that, ISV and I have always a little bit of oil in the IC..
I have the BOSCH plugs in for way more than 10k now, i think nothing wrong with replacing them every year (20k for me).

Good idea andy, be good for the people to try help keep the cars on the road etc.

I also did a visual check of the small vac pipes around the back of the engine and found some of mine was frayed so replaced them.

Could also add at the end, christmas card to the bank manager once a year

Plugs every 10k? They have a service life of 40k, even if you changed them at half that, it's still twice that of 10k.

Check em every oil change to make sure they are tight. Least that's what I do.

My propshaft gets a grease at every oil change.

Without getting smutty. Is that via the nipple which some do not have (on the propshaft that is)??

It is Alastair, via the nipple on the universal joint.
I don't personally do it, my local specialists do.

Brake fluid change once a year.....More often if you do a lot of track days or use higher spec (DOT 5.1 etc) fluid as this seems to absorb water more readily.......

Spark plug change at 10K.... on 40K plugs...... try working in the trade and billing customers for a plug change at every service!!!!

Remove and clean intercooler every 10k......you would be surprised how much oil can accumulate in the bottom particularly if you can't give the car a blast very often.

At every fuel filter change fill the filter 1/2 full with injector cleaner..
