Thinking of selling the S2 as i need something bigger and am looking at a 2001 RS4. Can anyone tell me how much more expensive the running costs (ie fuel ) are.
Fuel economy will be about the same as an S2 based on a mate's 330bhp S4. Parts and servicing are a bit more and the B5 does have a few problems that are worth checking out, turbos for one (s4 anyway). Other than that I'm sure that the boys on RS246.com will help you out more than we can.

best way to look at these things is the simple way. power=fuel+air+spark. more fuel and air more power. its a good general rule really although expect a more modern engine to make power more easily due mainly to the amount of timing they can handle and the better designs of combustion chambers.
i would be more than happy with one of those
handling is better. wheels are a bit soft material from what i can gather.
I had a 345hp S4 but i have now come back to an S2. Surpisingly i find the S2 has better fuel economy than the S4. The best thing about the S4 is its newer and you get climate control etc with it and with the RS4 you get an even better spec. But for whatever reason i really missed the S2 hence why i have it back
