    What's it worth?

I made a decision the other day that could mean the end for my S2 ownership - I bought a petrol daily driver.

I needed to buy a sensible family car for when the impending arrival is here and so I picked up a Skoda Octavia vRS 2.0T. Although I don't want to get rid of the S2, it's not like I'm going to need a petrol car to go hooning around in as a reward for putting up with a sootchucker all week, and my sensible side is thinking seriously about getting out of the game for the moment at least.

    So, what's it worth?

    1993/4 L (can't remember whether 93 or 94 without looking) Avant
    199,600 miles
    Engine is standard + homefries
    Brakes are Hi-spec "Monster 4" 4 pot calipers with 347mm A8 discs
Suspension is KW V2 with Whiteline RARB
Seats are Corbeau Boss sport recliners
    Exhaust is Milltek cat back
Wheels are S6 Avus wheels (correct offset) 17" with Michelin PS2's
Can't think of anything else off the top of my head

As many of you know, I am a bit of a mad b@stard and I have stripped a lot of the interior out. I still have nearly all of the parts except the carpet and they will be supplied with the car. It's not a luxury cruiser and it's not a concours winner but that was never my plan for the car.

I've spent a fair few quid on it maintaining it as I bought it with no history and therefore wanted to make sure it was in reasonable condition underneath. I have done a lot of the work myself so I know it is to a reasonable standard Work includes cam belt done about 5,000 miles ago so she's good to go for a while without that major expense.

The plan was roughly to upgrade to RS2 + remap spec on the engine side, decat it, and then buy a nice (non-S2) 80 Avant or Saloon and swap the interiors over, carpets and all.

I have a figure in my head that starts with a 3 but what do you think it's worth? I know this car might not appeal to everyone due to me taking the carpets out etc which may impact the value but c'est la vie.

Might be better to put anything standard you still have back on and sell off the upgrades. Otherwise I'd ahve thought £3.5k in the current market might be a starting point, £4k if you can find someone who wants a spec'd up Avant as a track toy... Good luck either way.

Not having the carpet is going to put a lot off people off. As Andy said above you would probably be better off selling the upgrades separately. If it were me trying to sell it then I'd try and source a carpet and fit it before getting any potential buyers to have a look.

Unfortunately I don't have many of the standard parts, brakes have gone as has the exhaust which was knackered anyway and the suspension has gone to another member on here, so the car is pretty much as it is.

Yes I am thinking about at least building the car back up as best I can.. anyone know where I can get a carpet from? The car is blue with dark blue interior so a blue or black carpet would be best.

I was thinking around top threes with everything listed, the car isn't a concours winner but it is mechanically very good and drives extremely well.

Dunno what the rest of you think, but I feel that our cars (along with all others) have taken a hit lately and as such, reckon you'd be hard pushed to get 3k for it.
Just my opinion, what with the way things are at the moment.........

Ben, try the motorsport section of Pistonheads and other such sites, your car is heading that way with the suspension, brakes etc. and someone might want one to go play racing with it.
