I know for a fact that at least 2 of the S4s there were for sale on the bay recently as runners with Mot and no damage. Shame really, but I guess it makes sense as they're worth significantly more in bits.
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.
A friend of mine with his own hands choped and sell on parts one S2 Sedan on 65000kilometers!In the car smelled like in a new one!It was perfect, but with unlegall documents and thiw was it...
I also know one guy in Germany that sells perfect RS2s on parts,a perfect cars, because he gets more money selling them on parts!
Crazy world we live in, where the cars don't get high enough prices as a completely working unit - presumably cos they are so unusual/rare/complex (expensive to run) and simply not 'cool' enough for the average bloke (or lass) - yet the people that own them will happily buy cheap parts from these breaking cars cos new parts are so expensive (and increasingly NLA as well)...
Well done Audi once again for creating wonderful cars then making it almost impossible for people to keep them on the road 10-15yrs later - what a great way to destroy your history.
I bet the vast majority of new R8 owners are blissfully unaware of this situation and that the value of their cars will be a pittance in 10 yrs time... Thats if anyone can still afford petrol of course.

How much did the cars go for on ebay?
He wanted 200 for a pair of good front wings (60 for some rusty ones) and 300 for a pair of hp2 struts!
Needless to say i didnt buy them, i got all that for a third of his price.
my other half was ringing round a couple of mths ago for some bits for m and found a breakers up north (not a vw/audi specialist) that had crushed an rs2 in march as theyd had it for nearly 3 years and no one had rung up for anything so they figured it was worth more as scrap value................................i cried
I've done it myself - pure economics I'm afraid. My car was a 94 avant had just over 90K on the clock was taxed and MOT'd. Just worth more in bits than I could get in a sale.

that's savage. I'm supprized no one got hold of them by chance before they crushed it :s
Money talks and if your local grease monkey can earn more from pulling it to bits than he can sticking it on the garage forcourt then thats exactly what he will do.
And its not just the S audis its every thing, the worlds gone mad! and hate to say it but its getting worse by the day with all this money crap at the mo.
The fun starts at the turn of a key
Quattro power here we go!!
its the same with gt coupes and quattros
i can get more in parts than i can sell them for, nice classic cars that should be kept, but no one does really.
i don t like cutting up repairable ones though, have them sitting till an enthusiast turns up.
did break a 61000 miler once, rusty as hell!
