    Non starter ABY Devon

Better start my own thread as its now my problem!
Just swapped back to my old aby coupe and its a non starter.Julian and i did a deal, part of it was that i had to make the coupe a runner as it would not start.

When i took it back it had no turbo, ecu or maf. I have now fitted all these and know for a fact they all work fine as they came from my avant a day before.
the coupe now has a full 3 inch turbo back exhaust with nice manifold.

I briefly started the coupe last week with the turbo in place but no maf connected.

Now it wont start! With the new manifold the maf wire has been extended and found a wire had unconnected itself. Can it blow a fuse? Sure i checked all of them.

car turns over but will not fire. Tried to fire yesterday a couple of times but will not have it now.

any ideas? Usual bits done i.e spark, fuel etc, even chaned fuel pump yesterday

If it turns over but won't start then it's more than likely to be a hall sender, either cam or crank. Give the plugs a good once over and some WD40, if that doesn't work then you need to get some VAG Com action on it to determine which sensor is out or get a multimeter out and test that the sensors are giving signal and that the ECU is receiving it.

If the fuel pump is working then there should be a distinct whine from beneath the rear seats / boot carpet, put the seats down and lift the carpet to hear it more.

You can connect a bulb across the sensor to detect a signal.

I have a dodgy plug on the crank sensor that needs a wiggle every now and again Been meaning to sort it for a while but there we go

If you really get spark, the hall and the crank sensor G4 are ok.
Then it's to injectors/fuel or bad ground of the coil packs..

managed to get it started, took all plugs out and they needed cleaning and it fired up first time!
Didnt look at these before as they supposadly had been checked!!
Now i got a problem with plug number 2 just spinning in the thread so its in the garage to see if it can be re-threaded/ helicoiled.
