just fitted some to mine.they definitely put out more light, but it's not crisp light.has anyone changed their lens at the same time?also, mine light up signs from 300 metres away, but i got the beam set up.it seems to be the nearside one,the spread that should be lighting up the side of the road, but it's just too high.i read a thread about some HID's going too far into the headlight unit.could that cause it?
cheers,phil.
It should be bright and crisp. Did your HID bulb have the exact copy mounting of the bulb you removed and did the HID bulb sit down in the mounting before you brought the wire holder over?
Are you on Elipsoid lights or standard diffusion ones. The later do not really do justice to an HID setup...
Hope that helps.
Cheers,
Steve

@ johne.yeah it had the same three pin mounting,do you mean fully home, when you say 'sit down'?
@ steve.i'm on diffusion shitters.i thought about getting elipsoid but decided against it.
@ acid.i earthed them on the slam panel.i cleaned some paint off and greased it up.hate doing that but had little other choice with the time i had.
have our lights got side to side adjustment?
cheers,phil.
One thing that I did notice was as I have not had mine setup by a garage or against a wall yet, my passenger side light was aimed too high so I un-did the top two screws and moved the headlight forward at the top dropping them down. The reflectors in the lights don't help much if the chrome finish is pealing off unfortunately.
Phil, with mine (which were H1s, maybe yours are H4s?) it would be possible for the base of the bulb to catch the edge of the bulb seating area on the back of the headlight and end up not square and mis-aligned.
Personally, I'd use the earth that fed the original headlight bulb. Saves scratching any paint off - although I realise you've already done that.
when the beams catch on a wall i can see they're level and not too high(especially as i've dropped them a bit myself).i should have used the original earth but i didn't want to start messing about with wires.i love plug and play.thinking about getting some new headlights.so i might as well get elipsoids.then i'll have to get different bulbs.oh what have i started?
