    S2 newbie Advice

Hey there.. a newbie here seeking advice on buying an Audi S2.

Currently drive a Mk2 Golf GTi so the move (which I hope to do next year) will feel a pretty big jump in not only quality but performance too.

    Current Car:

Basically Im looking for advice on buying one.
Things to look out for, things to ask the present owner, is mileage a problem, what price should i be looking at for a good one and as much info as you can.
The do's and the don'ts when buying and owning one.
What are running costs like i.e service intervals and cost, mpg, tire wear etc..

Id appreciate as much info as possible!!

    Many thanks

    Jim

MPG is approx 25 depending on how yu drive with about 30mpg on a long run, tire wearis not too bad to be honest depedning on the tyre and once again how you drive it. My avant has now gone over 150K and still runs exceptionally well (few minor problems along the way such aaks and oil switch leaking but these are niggles that can be very easy to fix). The good thig I find is if you are a bit mechanically minded you can do alot to the car yourself. I do an oil change every 3K though just to be doubly sure to keep it in tip top. Some do longer, once aain depends on the usage of the car. Great build quality, just have a good look round the car for the usual you would look for with most but do use a fine tooth car.

Do's when owning one - well there are many upgrades to the stock stuff that is just bolt on, the most popular being brakes and suspension but there is plenty of info on here for that.

Oh yes Welcome to the forum. Have un

My god that golf looks the nuts!

I own both an S2 and a MK2 GTI and they are 2 complete different animals. S2 is very refined in comparison and on a cruise a-road blast certainly is a joy.

Golf is a wicked little handling car you can through about in twisty corners and the city.

The biggest thing is going to be your budget, if you can afford to get an ABY engine car ( 1993 onwards ) with 6 speed do so as if you are planning to mod the car it's a better base to start from.

If your going to keep it stockish the 3B ( 1991-1993 ) are a bargain but beware thrashed ones.
