    Track day slag

I'm in a conundrum, I have a summer track day slag, but I am now finding it difficult to go 6 straight months without a track-fix and am thinking about a winter track day device...
Current thoughts are stripped out, chipped TT with modified Haldex controller which gives proper 50/50 torque split.
You can now get a Y reg 225 TT for about 4.5k - there's currently 1800 of the wee beasties for sale on Autotrader, so my guess is, all the rich folks who bought them originally are now getting rid as they want the new mini or 1 series BMW or whatever.
Any road - The market is totally over-run with the little boogers so I reckon it wont be long before they start selling at 3k.
Surely an excellent wet track tool with the right setup?
    What do you lot think?

Just found more info and I think s4 2.7 is beter choice.

      TT- 225bhp and 1570kg-------------) mrc'd 260bhp & 380Nm
      S4 2.7 biturbo- 267bhp and 1510kg--------) mrc'd 310bhp & 500Nm
Both cost more or less the same.

What's wrong with a 3B? Cheap, fast and lightest S2. On a wet track not much can keep up

Otherwise Saph Cossie 4x4. Porsche 944 S2s are cheap too.

I thought TT's were lighter than that. B5 S4's are quite a bit rarer though so it might be less viable to start ripping bits off it. Interesting curve ball to add though, just my two pence worth.

A 944 would make a terrific track slag. If I didn't need something reasonably practical and cheap to maintain I would have one

Was looking into swapping the S2 for one but have bottled it for now, same with an silly M3 or mental Golf. S2 has lots of potential to extract and none would be anywhere near as good in the wet as an S2 (or cossie) tho. Plus S2 has shock value as it's just a 15 year old Audi, they weren't sporty were they... :mischeif:

What about an Alfa 155 Q4 or a BMW 325ix or even an early Evo I / II ... all in price range but not exactly main stream

I had an MX5 keep up with me in the wet at Donington through the Old Hairpin. He wasn't going in the right direction for more than 5m but he looked to be having the most fun (en route to the hair dresser's) ever

Oh, and what about Chen's 3B converted B3 90q, that'd be a weapon and a half. 3071 so 400+ bhp and the lighter, stiffer saloon shell. Perfic

944, mx-5, E30, all crazy fun cars. As much as I love the cq sometimes I do wish it was RWD

Those alphas are mental. The 75 they have at the ring are simply awesome.

Mate of mine bought this 225 TT over Xmas, paid £4600 for it. He's not into cars at all but just wanted something up to £5k that was gonna be half quick, reliable & cheeky. The 2 times he's been round i've been out so haven't actually seen or driven it yet tho.

                      http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1999-AUDI-TT-Q...1%7C240%3A1318

For a cheapish track hack i would personally go e36 M3, lots of "reliable" power, great chassis and RWD. For the track........perfect!! (you just gotta ignore the dodgy e36 image tho...).

I've been round the 'ring a couple of times in an Alfa 75 track prepared road car and it was awesome. Had a custom3.5 V6, straight through exhausts that made the most amazing sound ever, super stiff suspension, LSD and a mad Dutchman at the wheel who like it whe it was schlippery

Ron Simons is the man for the Alfa 75 experience, he'll rent you one and teach you how todrive the knackers off it. We work with him and his GT3RS's, top bloke.
