There are several similar items advertised in the various classic mags, including your picture.
( e.g.current issues of Practical Classic and Classic & Sports car mags,) ,
For not much more you can also get a hydraulic four poster -- but need the headroom of course !
My only first hand experience is with the scissor ramps, (drive on and then wind up another 14 ").
Useful, much cheaper, but of much more limited use than your proposal.
My brother had some years ago and I see that they are available again.

The carriage charge is scary !

I'm sure my expense accountant would object..........why don't you pay the garage to do that dear .....

Where is it going to go Alex? I dont remember you having much headroom in the garage, or are you converting the living room without telling the mrs?

        Thanks for the comments Chris.
Mark: As a factory owner I have many places to put such an item, 1 being an empty 5000 sq foot unit that we are stuck in a lease with until mid 2010
If its any use to you, you are welcome to have the use of it, I don't reckon we'll be able to shift it this year, what with the recession and all £1000/month down the drain........

Use of the lift or the unit?! Where is the place? I do have a use for a lift of this sort as I need to change a part of the S2's rear suspension.

well, judging by the amount of work I have to do to the S2's rear end and underneath - I think the lift will be in use for the next 3 moths at least (I'm totally stripping everything out from the underside, doing some rust bashing and replacing ALL seals / bushes etc etc) Oh and my mrs will be giving birth next month also - so that may get in the way a bit
So - Unit is available, lift is probably not (until after I've finished with it anyway!)
                - I can probably muster up a pair of axle stands if that helps

I like the idea but its a tad more cash and I'm sure I'd keep tripping over the feet too
