I really do hate to state the obvious but have you checked your oil level? sounds silly but if the AA or RAC had a £1 for every time someone 'broke down' or more to the point ran out of petrol they would be wealthy companies.

Have you tried flushing it through?
        The oil strainer gets blocked.
My Mk1 GTi used to do this.

            .

When EXACTLEY, not shouting, does the bleeper go off, as yus prolly got 2.

A low pressure and a high pressure.

            P.S. engine code will help us...your avatar shows a 10v 5 pot?

it's possible the car has low pressure.

I would stick a gauge on it to verify

                  .

With the ign. on the autocheck is checking the low pressure is above 0.8 bar, with the engine running it's checking for more than 1.8 bar (hope i got them figures right).

Sounds like a high pressure fault...need to check my Bentley for the positions of the switches.

Or someone on here will point you in the right place.

Could just be an unconnected wire or broken one, maybe sticky pressure switch.
