new bilstiens, shocker!!!

Need some new Bilstien front shocks for the s2, spoke to my friendly mr Euro Car Parts, (Bilstien agent in UK) & they Quoted me £418 for the pair, I thought this was a bit steep but they told me that both the old part numbers (reffering to the 55mm body) had be replaced by one new one, the B6... dunno if anyone has any thoughts on this?

it is quite steep! I thought you were able to get all 4 bilsteins for that price.
if you already have bilsteins,why not renew them?

I had a set, took them out to get them referbished & some sticky fingered mo fo nicked them off my front drive! speaking to "Euro Car Parts" they said they can send them back to Bilstien for referb! they told me the smaller 50mm body shocks are still available but the 55mm bodied shocks have all been supersceeded by the B6 part number!

The front ones were from the Cup Kit PE3-3086, what number has superceded them?

The part number above is from the B6 range as there is no B8 range for the front of the S2.

ah they said there were 2 different sizes on the outside diamiter 50mm and 55mm. they are probs lying lol.

That is correct the 50mm is the CQ the 55mm is the S2 but there is only one 55mm shock they do which is a B6 shock.

BTDT with your car mate had OEM, Bilsteins and Koni's on it

One thing Ian, have you thought about buying RS2 front shocks instead?

motorsportworld.co.uk is far cheaper for the Bilstein shocks. They have them at £175 each for the PE3-3086

Personally I'd get the Koni's £120 each from motorsportworld. No doubt Aelred could match or beat that.

Just received my Bilsteins today. I ordered them from Euro Car Parts through my mate's garage.

Items delivered were 2 x PE3-3086 and 2 x BE3-6212 which are the correct parts for the RS2 - £480 all in!
(Fronts @ £110 each +VAT & rears @ £96 each +VAT )
Result considering the retail price has shot up presumably due to the weak pound.

Don't understand why ECP said that these parts have been superceded.
