Check out this very good buyer's guide. Although be aware that it's based on the American models which differ slightly from the European cars.

No, two piston known as the HP2 with 314mm disc. Same as A8s, B5 S4s and some others. Perfect for a Porsche Cayenne brake upgrade though! :mischeif:

ah the stock brakes will do my dad ok, its an automatic as well, so im thinking its perfect car for a man use to run about in rs2000's in his younger years

outa interest which type quattro is the automatic, is same as the v8 with a viscous coupling and a torsen in the tail
or is it the newer auto with a proper torsen system

My dad uses an S4 as a daily driver and loves it to bits. They are perfect for long distance journeys too, quick and effortless to drive.

Usual problems are more or less the same as an S2, very similar engine and transmission. I cant think of any faults as such, just to the usual things that wear with age.

I wouldn't worry about the stock brakes, just be thankful it dosent have the inside out UFO disks

Front wings rust as well as tailgate. Knocking from front suspension, Rear brake calipers, propshaft bearings, misfire (coil pack wiring brittle), turbo smoke.

Depends on owner(s) for condition really. Check service history.

Dont know if you've found a car yet but when i was looking for mine i noticed that most of them had had the heater matrix replaced, maybe a weak spot! Also my car seems to have had the front suspension bushes replaced quite often.

well my dad bought her and picked her up today

and she is pretty nice to drive and quite interesting with the auto but i felt that she was lacking in al the power she should have
but theres no boost, on the read out in the dash never goes over .8 when running and she doesnt feel boosted when driving

Probably a good old air leak is all...

Hold on - the dash displays absolute pressure - are you seeing 0.8 boost on the dash digital display... which is 0.2bar vacuum in terms of gauge pressure. Who took the turbo out ?

Get some fault codes if you can. Give me a shout if you need some help with it... Maybe doing a wee mini meet next month sometime so that might be a good time to look over the car.

yup the sensor after the throttle so read 1 when shes not running and 0.5 on idle, i was hopeing for her read out the full of what the manual says the dash can read, at 2.5 bar laugh
am hoping just a pipe off or something minor
does waste gate ever stick open?

as for a wee meet, id go now have a 's' and if still no boost by then might be able get sorted then
also might give you a shout for a wee homefries mod

anyway shes quick and handles well, not quick the 90 but once shes is boosting im sure shell be quicker but handles far better

I'd say the WGFV isn't working... Do some output tests and check all fuses... Check www.sjmautotechnik.com for good AAN diagnostics - I can't remember the fuse numbers - but its all the same topology as ABY.

I've never tweaked and Automatic AAN before - would be interesting to do a mild upgrade on that - I've got no tweaks on the transmission ECU nor much clue on how it will drive with lots more torque thru a slush box - thats a new headache I don't need.

will give good check over this evening in the day light, do hoses first, they are simplest visually checked then fuses ete

i guess turbo has gone bye bye, reason get rs2 parts on car only had a day:mischeif:

think same slush box as the v8 so should hold up, dont want swap to a manual i like the whole relaxed feel to the auto, have do so little, feels just right a car her size
the box controlled by ecu so imagine gear changes can even be tweaked which be interesting, maybe a sport button if theres a unused input on the ecu
