If it will fit in a MkI Golf, then why not a TT?

Well knock me down with a feather - I never would have believed that... BUT the Mk1 Golf sits much higher than the new fangled low slung TT - it would be amazing to see how they can package such a big lump transversely into that space.

I for one am hoping it is a proper I5 - I guess it'll have a 5V head, DBW and FSI... Wouldn't it be awesome if it bolts onto an 016 or 01E gearbox ?
That formula would generate a project or two round this place. Probably ME7 or ME9 motronic though that won't stop the standalone boys !

I think the newest shape ones look a lot less girly than the early ones... The other problem with TTs is there's just so damn many of them on the road - partly cos of entry level pricing, the tiny engine and FWD spec for the ladies how want a pretty car - and the lads that seemingly have an interest in said ladies - to talk about hair products I suppose.

I dunno about anyone else, but when I see twenty silver TTs on the average trip to Tescos you kind of wonder what the fuss is all about. I suppose its the same reason they don't have blonde escorts in Sweden - allegedly - LOL !

We S2 owners (and extended family) are a much more rare population of course - usually only spotted, nodded, appreciated or flashed at by another family member... But more often completely ignored and pigeon-holed by Joe-shiiitbox-driving public as a boring old anonymous Audi driven by some aging sad **** who can't afford a shiny new motah (that has a stupid S-Line sticker on it). Of course they are blissfully unaware of the financial and technical challenges of being in this family, but all that is forgotten when you plant the right foot and rip past them with the unique sound of a finely tuned five cylinder multivalve symphony, accompanied by a fantastic wooshing noise and immense gathering of speed towards the horizon.......

Now some of these hairdressers may have a TT with some gumption - and a very similar soundtrack - with ~20yrs advances in chassis dynamics. ****......... Oh well at least it will be a fair fight now. Game ON !

              I'm not impressed @ all
25 HP more than the 15 year old RS2 with a 300 cc bigger engine... that's poor, even if its spools before 3000 rpm.
IIRC apparently the I5 block comes from the american Golf rabbit and if it fits in a Golf V it should fit in a TT.

                  You cant seriously mean that

With all these years off development since the RS2 off coarse they are able to achieve more power if they want to. Audi even did that before the RS2 with all they high power racing engines.
The power/tourqe figures for the TT-RS must be an evaluation of drivebillity and suitable power output for what they want to market with the TT-RS.

I am sure that if they wanted a car with i.e. 600bhp they are absolutely capable of producing that out of an 2,5Lengine IL5

It'll be a 20V FSi engine, direct injection. No room for the 3rd inlet valve so there'll be no 25V.

If there was ever a speech on S2 ownership, that would pretty much sum it all up!

New 5-pot sounds nice, but seems to lack the raw edge that made the old lump so famous and appealing.

well it wasn't fun to watch, normally Opels do that on the quarter mile here.

And it pains me that they have broken a RS2 just to put the engine in that hideous MK1

Oh its real then... how tight is that lump fitted in there ?

But that weight is surprisingly light also.
