they should have gone the awd way, there were serious concerns on traction with the 280 nm of a gti or the 350 nm of a tdi170,
weight could have been saved elswhere on rear seats for example, and isn't there a volvo C30 4x4 (not sure) and a 4wd ford kuga based on the focus so the haldex system existing, why did they even bother reinventing the wheel, they built a cool but useless car with the first one and didin't learn the lesson.

looks good, 5 pot track and apparently handles well regardless of the fwd. 4x4 would have been a great addition but for most people that own one, i doubt they would drive it hard enough to find the limits anyway

More AWHP in 2 wheel drive. less drive train loss
At the end it's the AWHP that you feel if the quaif and the revoknockle can put it down to the road. Crank HP is only good at the Pub

there could be an RS3 so let's see where the truth lies when it's there.
in the end it's a 235 mm tyre against 220 nm. for the same amount of torque per tyre (215nm) porsche puts on 305 mm tyres and those don't have to manage the steering.
Your an assissted muppet when driving a car like that. disconect the electronics and you won't make it through the next corner whatever ford engineers invent.
It's a ridiculous car for ridiculous people, and all that because they wanted to save 80 kilos and 1200€.

tyre width doesnt matter, its down to weight, assuming similar tyre compound (coefficient friction)
so its weight we need look at and being fwd under hard acceleration the focus will have little on the front wheels

i agree with about the electronics, lose the esp and it will be as slow any fwd car in the bends, unless someone manages to develop away a human pressed 4 brake pedals independently

it is a silly car, only really appeals to people like go faster strips

personally i like golf gti as doesnt try be anything more than a fast fwd car, the rs alludes to being like a focus as in the wrc

And see there's the rub - for some extra weight and cost they could have built a much more capable machine with 4WD that would have a bit more synergy with the WRC machine.
