There is an ongoing 1.9TDi quattro project being crafted by the wizard. Most of the parts needed have been collected together so we should have some results of such a conversion soon.

Brilliant - I look forward to that one... A 1.9TDi B4 quattro would be be ideal view of a daily driver - capable in all weathers with enough oomf for a hack.

PS Ben - I'll call you later today !

So far all thats missing is the panel to bolt the front diff mount to the floor & the centre prop bearing support. Both of these panels are listed on etka. Those are the only items i will have to find.(donor car will yeald these!)Front subframe is also different but a coupe v6 one will serve my needs.I will have to delete the present gearbox mount that is welded to the gearbox tunnel.Rest assured that if i encounter problems youll find out !!!

Back on topic slightly, the B4 FWD and Quattro models have the same floor pan. I looked at this a long time back when I was considering converting my TDi to Quattro. JasIIn and/or UR-S4 can back this up and they have both looked at the feasability of such a conversion.

Well as we're all being pedants today..

          It's quattro. Lower case "q"

And the new Passat is actually an A5 platform car (Golf) despite the fact that everyone calls it the B6 (which is the correct model designation for the 2001-2005 A4). Same goes for the new Superb.

Look forward to hearing how you get on with this, it was something I was tempted to do.

How easy would it be to put a 4.2 V8 in a B4 chassis? :mischeif:

Keep up the good work Mr Wizard. I'm keeping an eye on that too.

                        That would be absolutely awesome.

I'm sure I read somewhere that the V8 engine mounts onto 5cyl engine mounts in a B3 - there was at least one crazy guy in Arizona (ish) who put an Audi V8 into a CQ chassis.

If I had the time and money I would build such a machine and it would have to be called 'Sadie' - a good name for big scary woman from Belfast - also curiously derived from S-80 (pronounced seighty... sadie). Ahhhh I'll get me coat...... Nurse, where is my medication and stop looking at me like that

Definately after seeing the picture you put up in the other thread. That car with an Il5 would be brilliant.

Does anyone else remember the Audi 80 that used to race in the Belcar series? That had the unmistakable sound of an I5T.
I think I still have some footage from Zolder somewhere on VHS.

                              It looked something like this.
