Not so much offtopic really.
I'll have a go at this quattro conversion, maybe this year, maybe next. I even have a donor car stashed away.

Although just polishing bonnets and fiddling with lights might get in the way of an already transformed 'bag o bolts' TDi :mischeif:

I'm going to have a bit of a crack at being pedantic now.

I'm sure they did a diesel B3, it had the old 1600 diesel lump with a turbo on.

Also, my Avant has the chassis code: 8CZPA, no number in it at all until the last 6 numbers. Would this denote any sort "abnormal" background, such as a test car of some sort? Or am I reading too much into it?

Only the 8B or 8C prefix appears on our VINs, but if you look at the sticker in your service book you will find the full model code.

And hey - you might be right on the diesel thing... B4 was maybe 1st car with the 1.9TD / TDi donkey.
